Some recent depictions include an enemy type in the SMT/Persona games and a character in Ancient Magus bride. Typically a house/family haunting spirit, sometimes benevolent sometimes not, always wearing a silky (often red) dress

It just keeps getting better and better. Turbo Granny acting like such a mean B to Momo then when nobody is looking she reveals through her actions that she actually likes these kids. Weird, Wacky story but so compelling, cute and despite the insanity of it all the story seems genuine in some aspects.
