I'm still on a quest for someone to realize that the line "I'm an awkward fellow, after all" was referenced at the beginning of the episode by Momo's friends as one of the actor's famous lines.

The anime did a bad job showing that the phrase came from Ken Takakura (the actor), in the manga they even show Ken's (the actors) face to show comparisons of his face & Momo's ex. The manga makes it clear, so I don't blame people for missing it.
