Airborne School: Ground Week

The United States Army Airborne School takes service members from all five branches of the military and transforms them into the world's finest paratroopers. Melissa Anderson takes us to week one of airborne school, where these students are learning the basics.

50 years ago right now, second day of ground week. Very hot. Salt tabs and the water buffalos. Most of the time in school was under black flag conditions, so we didn't do as much running... notice I said not as much. Very much fun, as remembered today.

I saw lots of Army, some Air Force, and a Marine. I don’t know why but I was hoping to see a Coastie in there.

In my class (1969) there were mainly Army and Marines. Out of the class of roughly 500, there were three of us from the Air Force and another three Navy SEaLs

Back I the day "43rd airborne company, Training Student Battalion. (Airborne) 1981 , i never recalled seeing any smile. Times have changed. P.S. A any prefix letter "A officer,,,,N nco" , before the roster number is going to smile . They have POVs and can be done for the day....... Just saying. Back In my day.
