Airbrush Essentials - The Basics to Airbrushing Using Angelus Paints

In this video, Dillon from ‪@DeJesusCustomFootwear‬ was kind enough to share some of his techniques on how to properly prep a Nike Air Force 1 and airbrush a simple gradient using Angelus Leather Acrylic Paints.
Angelus Paints come airbrush ready but if your airbrush needle is smaller than .5mm or your paints are a bit old and clumpy, then this video will demonstrate the proper way to thin them out and get them ready to for smooth airbrush application.

Sanding is not required however it does help with the overall durability.

Hello, I'm currently using 0.3 needle and nozzle but I have many problems with my airbrush (the paint does not come out and it clogs every 10sec) despite the sieve and the 2thin. Should I use a .5 needle ? Thanks for this video !

A little clarity..so after I mix the two color together to make the seamless bar, I then clean my paint bowl then use my original colors to go back over it? We only mix the two colors together to blend them into each other perfectly?

Watch videos about gradients you'll get more of an idea how the fading works. You could mix the 2 colors you want to 1st then make your bar then paint the color on each side. Hes referencing cleaning out his air brush before applying the 2nd color. It's what you feel comfortable doing 1st. Tho in my opinion it would suck painting both of your colors 1st and then you cant blend them together. So like I suggested watch videos about gradients

Unfortuantely these types of soles cannot be painted. Rubber in general cannot.

You always spray after with the repellent. If you spray it before nothing will stick to it and that would be awful.

It's all preference and maybe something you can experiment with. Overall, could be unnecessary and overkill. If it makes you feel better to add the extra coat of protection then do it... it's not going to be make or break the custom. More importantly we hope you're taking extra measures when it come to the prep for this is what matters and is the most essential step to a durable, long lasting custom.

I don't know if you could answer this question, but I changed icy soles to a red and tried to change it to a black... Am I able to just paint it black instead of dye?

Unfortunately paint will not adhere to the bottom of soles and will eventually chip and crack off. We never suggest painting on soles but some people have in the past and used sole protectors afterwards. This may still be a risk and something you may need to research and test on your own however, we wouldn't recommend it.

When painting fabric materials mix the paint with 2-Soft in a 1:1 ratio. 2-Soft is a fabric medium to help keep the materials soft. Hi, I recently started with customizing my shoes but i run into a problem. I wanted to use my airbrush (hansa 581) so I did what you said and mixed the (brand new) paint with 2 thin, but still my airbrush stops.. ?!?! Everytime i start spraying i get some paint but slowly less and less till nothing happens - even with full open. I use a .2mm needle. ( even if i use 1:1 ratio i have the same problem. I thought it was because of my old airbrush, so today i bought a new one. ( sorry again with .2mm needle inside) and same story... What is my problem ? Do i really just need to take a larger needle or what ? Thanks in advance if someone can answer me.
