Very helpful!!! I have a project I spent a chunk of time on and unfortunately need to remove some finger prints before clear coating! I previously had tried rubbing alcohol and wanted to cry after smearing away art . Definitely going to do some tests and go with a solvent.Thanks for posting the useful info always!

James, I'm glad I could help. And yes, it is worth the time to do a test. There's nothing like ruining hours of work. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate the support.

Try using a final wipe wax and grease remover such as Tamco HR398 or PPG SX320.

Can you apply 2k clear after cleaning wicked with mineral spirits??
@TheAirbrushGarage9 ай бұрын
Ab, yes, make sure the mineral spirits is dry. I have tried other cleaners, but I now only use mineral spirits. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching.

When I emailed Createx a couple months ago they told me that they had some debate within their company about wether or not to use mineral spirits as a cleaner for their paints. They said that their official stance is not to recommend mineral spirits and to instead use a mild solvent based post-sanding type cleaner. So now I am confused and don't know what to do. Do you still use mineral spirits with the Createx paints? Have you noticed any staining or any negative affects on the paint?

Thanks for the video I appreciate the time you took putting it together and the research to make it happen. With that being said; why not end with a simple chart so a newby as my self has a reference to view? I would write it or print it on an index card and get it correct, as I get exposure I won’t forget… Thanks again 🙏

Rex, when it comes to Createx, just use mineral spirits when cleaning. I spoke with the owner at Createx, and he told me mineral spirits work across the entire line of Createx. Just think of it this way notated what paint you are using. If you need to wipe it down (clean it), you have to use the opposite. In other words, if you are using solvent based paint, then you need a water-based cleaner. Likewise, if you are using a water-based, you need to use a solvent based cleaner. Hope this helps, and thanks for the comment . Thanks for watching

Hi Dan. I love your channel. I'm new to air brushing and starting to dabble with painting resin 3d prints. Because of what you shared in this video, and learning about candy2O bleed, I'm going down the rabbit hole of applying 2k clears using my HP-CS. Not a lot of info out there about cleaning your equipment after applying a 2 part 2k clear (like no name 2k clear), and which cleaners or thinners to use, or not use, on my air brush. Any advice? Love to hear how you manage your 2k application and clean up process. Thank you for all you do.

Hi Thomas. I use the reducer for the particular paint I am using. An Hp- cs along with I believe all iwats have a Teflon needle pack, which makes it solvent resistant. There may be some airbrush out there that still uses a rubber O ring, and that would not be solvent proof. The eclipse is still one of my favorite brushes! People come up with all kinds of concoctions to reduce or clean. Dont do it! The reducer that is recommended for that particular paint is good for reducing and cleaning. Like when I use createx. I use the 4011 to reduce and clean. Happy painting, and I hope this helps.

How would I thin and clean behr exterior/interior paint for airbrushing? Thank you 😊
@TheAirbrushGarage Жыл бұрын
Nina, that depends if it is water or oil based. I would definitely look up the data sheet on your particular paint and follow the manufactures instructions. I wish I could be of more help. Thanks for the question, and thanks for watching.

Have you had issues with fisheyes after cleaning with wax and grease remover on a painted sanded hood and then airbrushing wirh wicked colors? My compressor is oil free, i have wiped doen the psnel multiple times but keep getting fisheyes! Can moisture in the line cause similar to fisheyes that are hard to cover? Any suggestions?
@TheAirbrushGarage Жыл бұрын
Kristy, I have not had that problem. I like to spray whatever cleaner I am using with air to make sure it is all evaporated. It is probably in the compressor/gun setup. Yes it can be moisture. There is a fisheye remover you can add to your paint amzn.to/3Mu1j8s I am not suggesting to buy this particular product it is just an example that it exists. I hope this helps.

Thanks Dan. Excellent as always. Have you had any issue clearing with either 4050 or a 2K after a mineral spirits wipe down?
@TheAirbrushGarage2 жыл бұрын
Dennis, I only use 4050 as a carrier for the candy 2o. Make sure the mineral spirits or any other cleaner is fully dry. I have not had a problem with can clear or 2k. I did have a spot Feather up one time and I attribute it to not having the mineral spirits completely dry. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.
