When I started airbrushing on gundam kits, clogged needle was the main issue I encountered with Vallejo acrylic range. Even with Air. I have since learned to add the good quantity of flow improver first, and sometimes, mainly for primer or thicker paint, a few drops of thinner, and now, after a few months of practice and experience, I manage to make very smooth, satisfying surfaces. Once mastered those colors are truly perfect. You have to learn how to use them, but those odourless paints are excellent IMO, with a few tips,tutorials... and patience. I really wish I had watched this video a few months ago 😃 thank you!

I’ve been using Vallejo Model Air paints and found that with 5 drops of paint, 1 drop of flow improver, and 1 drop of thinner is a sweet spot with my airbrush and it uses all the paint in the reservoir. Makes clean up a breeze. I use either a 5 drop or 10 drop mix to keep it simple. I can’t math.

I am in my first year of air brushing and I have experienced all of the problems in your video. I own two brushes which are the Iawata HP B+ and the Iawata HP C+. I paint at roughly 25 psi and have tried different settings on my Iawata tubular air compressor. I am experimenting by learning to control air with paint flow which is obtained with the trigger. I use Tamiya and Vallejo acrylic paints and find I have to use the flow improver quite a bit to prevent the first scenario in your video.I clean my brush after and during every painting session and I am still getting the spots of paint not a smooth flow of paint. I am about at the point of saying the hell with it and going back to brush painting. I wish I could take some lessons with an expert to see where or what the hell I am doing wrong...it is so frustrating!!

Hello Wood. You can try our "Air" color range, specially design for airbrush. If you use acrylic regular colors, do not forget to thin then with de Airbrush Thinner. By the way, we recommend you to follow Angel Giraldez youtube channel. He has many tutorials about airbrushing, and you may have a lesson with him. We hope this can help you. Regards!
@mehusla2 жыл бұрын
Recommend you play around with air pressures and paint viscosity. Thick paints, primers need more pressure - 30 to 32 psi. Thinned air acrylics, around 20 psi. A single setting of 25 psi will not work. Dont give up!

Hi José! I made my first incursion in doing mottling with Vallejo Model Air. I'm using a .2 nozzle and after trying with 1.5 and 2.0 bar, and try with more or less disolution, I cannot solve the problem of nozzle clogging. Is it possible that 0.2 nozzle is too narrow for Vallejo? I ask because 1) you use this measure in this video and 2) I used a .4 nozzle with primer and works like a charm.

I'm currently having much frustration trying to spray Vallejo Model Air from the U.S. Navy Jets paint set. The paint does not atomize well, and drying/clogging of the needle occurs almost immediately. I'm using a Paasche single action siphon-fed airbrush with a No. 1 spray needle. I've tried spraying between 10 and 20 p.s.i. 20 seems to work better. I'm using 28 drops of paint with 14 drops of Vallejo airbrush thinner and 3 drops of Vallejo airbrush flow improver. I'm mixing 70.615 USN L. Ghost Grey (primer) with a few drops of 71.279 Insignia White for the bottom of an F/A-18E. Paint flow is horrible with frequent clogs. Am I not using enough flow improver? I need to get a consistent paint flow, and I need to be able to thin the paint down more for a transparent, layered effect. Thank you.

Dry tip is the most biggest issue I have with Vallejo Air. That's why I prefer to spray with Tamiya, I find much more consistent. However, where I live in the US, Vallejo is BY far the easiest paint to get and had the widest range of colors. So this video is pretty essential for anyone lik myself who struggles getting consistent spray with Vallejo.

I'm getting a little frustrated... no matter the colour, the thinning ratio or pressure: i never get good results with Vallejo Air. I adjusted the pressure several times, cleaned the airbrush thoroughly but it always sprinkles and the airbrush is eventually fully clogged. Any advice?
@vallejocolors3 жыл бұрын
Hello! There are many reasons that can explain this but we recommend checking needle size (the bigger, the better - 0-4mm), sometimes less pressure is good, dilution ratios, if you use our flow improver and our airbrush retarder, if you use thinner or water or if the airbrush is correctly clean.
@ArnoldderAntagonist3 жыл бұрын
@@vallejocolors Thanks for your answer! Ive been trying a bit and with the 0.5mm nozzle and a drop of flow improver (at +-1.5 bar) theres no more problems. Funnily, with the 0.3mm there wasn't a chance. Anyway, merry christmas and a happy new year!
