Golden paints, whether it's High Flow, So-Flat, or Heavy Body completely dominate any miniature-based paint. So-Flat is really amazing, but it's only 60 or so colors. But if you get Vallejo Air Complete set, you get a ton of colors to work with at a very reasonable price. Most will be colors you never use or use very infrequently. For the ones you use a lot (White, Black, Grey, etc) I think it's worth getting the Golden High Flow equivalent.

i dont understand, was Vallejo Air supposed to be comparable to Golden. Wouldnt you use regular Vallejo colors for better coverage??? I just got into painting and first paint i got came with airbrush kit from Amazon. Then i bought cheaper version of hobby paint like Apple Barrel. Which was so bad it wouldnt even lay pigment down. Then i started purchasing Vallejo paints cause easier to find. Now i just bought bunch of Citadel / Army Painter paints to try...

What do you mean with „regular Vallejo colors“? Model or Game Color? Then I would compare one paint that is not ready for airbrushing with a paint that’s for the airbrush so that wouldn’t be a fair comparison

I have used both and its not even close! the coverage the Golden is so much better, viscosity, especially the amount of paint you use, the ADHESION IS is much better, myself and several other painters tested this for a WHOLE WEEK and I have no idea how he got his results- we tested longer and on real models! Golden --winner hands down! The coverage and how golden paint lays down as you spray is BETTER! You do not need to use the "high flow" if you want to make your own mix-- the "fluid" version is just great! The other part we tested and was the really nice surprise was blending and making your own colors-- it was the viscosity and amount of pigment that just gave the rich depth or BETTER washes! Its just an all around better paint, that is hard to accept if you have been using the typical miniature paints by Vallejo! last and probably most important-- a LITTLE Golden goes a lot further and will last longer than Vallejo! We tested for a week solid - we all changed to Golden!

Golden has many other colors though so I find it odd that you couldn't match something that they have with a corresponding Vallejo.

I did a huge color 'spray on spoons' test yesterday with Vallejo, Golden and Humbrol, and I really liked the outcome of Golden. Very bright colors, more shine, and much better opacity it seems.. Longer drying time too, so mind that! :-)

@@evolutionxstudios I also did a few Tamiya tests today, and I am really satisfied with those too! I doe use a droplet for the paint, not the original glass bottle.. but great results!

Golden make the best acrylics in the industry....the art industry anyway. Here in the states the Golden are on par with Vajello in terms of price. As a 40k player I like being able to buy larger than 15ml at a time. The So-Flat line from Golden you should try next
