I read a debate about keeping your heels on the ground and toes on the petal Vs. full foot on the petals. In your experience, what do commercial airlines generally require? My guess is that because of how advanced the commercial aircrafts are, the autobrake (rather in rejected take off or landing) would come on immediately, thus, no need to keep the foot on the entire petal. In the contrary, in a less technology advanced aircraft, keeping foot on the petal may be beneficial in case of emergency braking... Is this correct?
@MikeCharlieYankee
@MikeCharlieYankee 8 ай бұрын
I suppose it is better to keep your feet up on the pedals you might need to brake manually if the auto brake fails

Is it Flaps full landing? which yoke you think is better is it the airbus 🕹️ joystick or the boeing's yoke?

Flaps Full landing indeed. I never flown boeing yet but one thing is for sure, it's easier to fly with a wire connected joystick ;)

@@MikeCharlieYankee Thankyou so much for replying and obviously, answer boosts me ! Sometime people (not related to aviation) around me used to say you are so small to fly an airplane. I really wanted to reply that does not matter how big n strong someone is they can’t fly by himself or herself only. We need engines for that. But I never reply them back. These type of comments left me with very low self esteem. Once again, thank you so much.

Do all pilots fear that a bird strike would occur during the approach without proper visibility?
@MikeCharlieYankee
@MikeCharlieYankee 3 жыл бұрын
If there is one thing we are trying to, but we can't predict, it's gonna be Bird strike. It could happen any time in mid altitude, but most likely birds are not flying into low visibility. So to answer your question, it's something we dread but we do have specific procedures to mitigate the threat in case that happens. First thing remain calm, follow procedure, land back the airplane and assess the damage.

It’s not normally a problem. My FOs windscreen hit an owl on approach to Helsinki. He was flying and it obliterated his view, awful mess, he just said, “you have control” and I took over and landed. Not a problem. We even helped the engineer clean the mess. Horrible.

Just curious, you initially selected Auto brakes low then deactivated them and landing without any auto brake, why? Nice landing
@MikeCharlieYankee
@MikeCharlieYankee 3 жыл бұрын
The reason is that at the early stage of the approach we were asked to vacate the runway with the first available exit and finally few minutes before landing, they requested us to roll up to the end of the runway (for traffic purposes), so at this point the use of the autobrake was pointless as the aircraft will decrease his speed by itself without applying brakes.

So those two panels right in front of you. They're what you spend most of your time looking at when flying? The one on the left is a compass (more or less) and the one on the right tells you how level the plane is?
@MikeCharlieYankee
@MikeCharlieYankee 4 жыл бұрын
Yea indeed! Actually with the one the right we are actively monitoring the flight path of the aircraft, speed, altitude, vertical speed ect it's called PFD (Primary Flight Display), and the one on the left is showing the position of the aircraft and where we are heading to along with many other functions it's called the ND (Navigation Display). Thanks for watching.
