If you are ever in Wash D.C. , check out the view on the Top floor of the 'Marriott' Key Bridge. The planes come right at you until the last turn along the Potomac River to land at RR National Airport. OMG very scarey.

The Airbus witchhunt, started 30 years ago, still going strong. The fact that an airplane with the first fatal incident in 15 years, 16 million flight hours and 3 million flights is labeled "unsafe" shows just how strong american lobbyism is, how opinion is made and how gullible some people are. Since the A330 was put into service, at least 6 747 have crashed killing almost 1000 people. I hope that puts things into perspective for you.

A Qantas A380 lands at LAX every Monday morning at 7.30am, it flew straight over me driving to work on the 405 this week :oD
@Forcefield2315 жыл бұрын
When Singapore, Emirates, Qantas, Lufthansa and British Airways are moving hand over fist to get hold of these aircraft, not being able to land at Tobago isn't going to hurt. The A380 is designed for hub-to-hub air travel, to carry large amounts of people between two large airports and it does it's job very well. You don't know as much about commercial aviation as the people who run the airlines mentioned above, so don't bother arguing.

@MrGrawlew you are right, and @dylanhelmer you wrong. The Boeing Company HQ is located in Chicago and their plants and corporate offices are located in cities in Washington. However @MrGralew, he was referring to Washington the state, not the city.

Tax is 9.25%, the highest in the nation. The Governator got us into a big mess. The air quality isn't too bad, but I'm only there about 3 months out of the year in the summer months. Winter is the best time to go there. No traffic, snow on the mountains, and no fires. One time I went up to Big Bear and on the way down the air was so clear you could see past LA all the way across the strait to Catalina and see it clearly! I even got a really good pic of it. that's the airbus house colours... i don't think it was a commercial flight ;). but Quantas does have the 380s that run so you'd probably see the 380 if you're flying from sydney ;)

Yes it is. Looks like a big fat tube with wheels. The only good thing airbus has is the purple bar inside; but 747 could put one of those at the bottom of the staircase and one on the upper deck as well.

You, sir, of course, are entitled to your opinion, as am I. Mine is based on 35 years in the business. Just as one example, I know that pretty much to a man every Fed Ex mechanic breathed a huge sigh of relief when they canceled their order for the A-380 and went with the B-777. Let's see, how many accidents have there been in the past ten years where large airplanes came apart in the air. Two. Both Airbuses. How many Boeings?

You have to spend money to make money, and eventually they will start turning a profit. Not anytime soon, but the A380 is a long term project.
@KauaiGolfer115 жыл бұрын
JAL was a botched repair after a tail strike. Aloha was a lack of corrosion control on a 30 plus year old airframe operated in the tropics. And if you truly believe TWA 800 simply blew up on it's own, you need to read the expert witness testimony of the retired Navy F-14 CAG who saw what really brought it down. Airbus simply has a different design philosophy, and their airplanes are not as structurally robust.

Dont get all english teacher on me, just because english is not my native language. We can continue this discussion in 2 other languages if you want, still feeling comfy on the high horse? The stats are here: airsafe com -> Fatal events by Model In all fairness, the 744 should be on its own because it's a newer generation and has a better safety record. The 737NG has a slightly better record than the A320 but then again the A320 revolutionised flight with FBW.

wrong, airbus toke order for a masive amount of 9.4 billion us on the 2009 48th international airshow in paris. boeing got only 2 orders(valued of a mere 130 million).

ok wise guy, The 380 can only land at the airports u have mentioned, including a couple of others, which have to spend millions/billions of dollars in new airport facilites to accomodate the 380.. For gods sake, a fully loaded 747 can land on small caribbean islands, (virgin atlantic - Tobago TTCP)

Name them, and their cause, and we'll talk. And I'm not simply talking about the 330. Airbus simply does not design an airframe as strong as Boeing.

Why you speak about boeing? The video shows an A380. Airbus is made in several countries of Europe, and then it is assembled in France.

Lol i love it when people say boeing planes are controlled by real pilots, Airbus aircraft are just as pilot controllable as any Boeing. This "oh God, a computer is flying my plane" thing is simple scare tactics. Note that Boeing are adopting the same design stratergieds after Airbus proved them feasable. Accidents involving scheduled passenger operations: 1945 through 2008: Boeing: 21.9% Airbus: 4.3% Last 5 years: Boeing 25.0% Airbus 13.8% DeHaviland 10.5% McDonnell-Douglas 8.9% Luuuuulzz

Hyundai sells more cars than Mercedes. Does that mean Hyundai makes a better product? If there were two flights leaving simultaneously, with crews of equal experience, heading out on a route where at least moderate turbulence and heavy weather was expected, would you really choose to put your family on an A330 over a 777? I ride Airbuses all the time. Hell, my Brother retired as a Captain on the 321. But if I have a head to head choice, I'd take the Boeing.

@KauaiGolfer115 жыл бұрын
In all fairness, how many of those accidents were true aircraft design problems, and not CFIT, terrorism, fire onboard, or someone trying to take off without clearance? El Al, and United out of Honolulu, where the door came off. Blaming Boeing for a pilot taking off on the wrong runway (SIA) or a terrorist's bomb isn't right. Take a good look at the causes of all those accidents.

Of course there was the explosion of TWA800, there was the roof of Aloha Air 243 coming off, there was the pressure bulkhead of JAL 123 exploding, so there are a few. The bottom line is, when you look at statistics, Airbus is just as safe as Boeing and saying anything else is plain dumb. Airbus have surpassed Boeing in sales and deliveries for a few years. This whole Safety issue is just an american lobbyism thing, nothing more to it
@EclipseEDM15 жыл бұрын
I was kidding. See the irony :)
@k0nn0r15 жыл бұрын
Even if that were true, that doesnt mean shit on its own. Lets suppose it's true, it only means Airbus build planes as safe as Boeing with less material and less weight. JAL was a botched up repair BY BOEING THEMSELVES. Look at the numbers and you'll see Airbus has an excellent safety record, same as Boeing (at least the latest generation). Airbus wouldnt be first in sales and deliveries if their planes were shit. Wake up and think for a second man.

@k0nn0r15 жыл бұрын
Saying Airbus is unsafe when they arent isnt either, so maybe we should both start and be fair? Fact is, we dont know what brought down AF447. But the fact that the A330 flew safely for 15 years should tell you something. The fact is, ever since Airbus wanted to sell planes in America, they have had shit thrown at them and called unsafe. All the lobbyism and witchhunting didnt do much good, though since they're still doing well. Latest generation planes are safe, no matter who builds them

32574 I agree with you. Boeing 747-400 is the "Queen of the air". Think about the Boeing 747-8 Intercobtinnental, it is going tp be the same as the 747-400, but it's gonna be mostly composites just like the 787.

How much skydrol have you gotten in your eyes or on your skin changing the ink cartridge in your fax machine, and how many CAT3 approaches to minimums have you shot from your desk mr. station manager? Go order some more staples and count the cash drawers and think twice about your own qualifications before you open your mouth about maintenance and flight ops issues.
@Britalex15 жыл бұрын
Apart from the slight advantage in passenger numbers, it will never be as successful as the 747.. The Airbus 380 has cost so much, they have to sell 420 just to BREAK EVEN! a doomed project?? up to debate
