What a perfect landing that was, well done. Im going to have to get myself an Aircam one day. Are those amphibious floats or are they only for water landings and land taxiing and not runway landings?

Thanks for the commets. The floats are Montana 2200's. They are full amphibs with hydraulic retracts and are good for landing on pavement or grass.

So do you think that rear seat comfort speed of 70-75 will not be an issue in winter with the canopy on ? Maybe up around 100 but at 10gph?

Rear seat would be no problem once the enclosure is installed. Only thing lacking would be a source of heat and windscreen defrost if you were flying say colder than 5C. Apparently Lockwood is working on something right now for that. I know some guys use heated seats or motorcycle jackets or pants. My winters are in the order of -20C or colder (-40C) so i don't think even the enclosure would make anything work for those temperatures. Open i've flown down to 0C in the front and it's not bad but again in the back seat it's a different story. As for projected speed and fuel burn with the canopy i wouldn't hazard a guess. There are quite a few of them flying with the enclosure now so i'm sure the folks at Lockwood can give you an idea of the numbers. Nice looking Seamax by the way.

What cruise IAS are you getting with the montanas?Is there significant speed increase with Clamars due to the smooth finish?I assume you’re running 912ULS not 914’s? Never really thought about the drag of the composite vs the riveted floats. There's so much drag already with the open cockpit, rigging, struts and bracing wires that i really don't think there would be any significant difference made by the construction of the floats. My cruise is around 70 to 75 mph and it is really more limited by the comfort of the guy in the back seat than by available power. With the floats i get 70 mph indicated on just over 1/4 throttle and can get to VNE in level flight with the excess power that is available. Right now i plan on around 7 gph total for 70 mph but expect i will shave some off that once the enclosure is installed this winter. i'm running 912 ULS's and fixed pitch props but there are some aircams out there with the 914s and adjustable pitch props. For the performance increase i really don't see either of those being worth the extra weight and expense.

I think I am about 500 of these views. K watch it when I'm having a bad day and need to fantasize about starting my kit build. Where do you live that you have the lake...it looks like the San Juan islands near seattle.

Thanks for that. Actually the lake is located in Canada in Northern Ontario about 60 miles west of Thunder Bay, Ontario on Lake Shebandowan. I've got a bunch more video I've shot but I've just never had the time to sit down and edit some into some new videos. It's on my list of things to do and it will get done but right now I'm in the process of building another airplane. If you're dreaming of build an airplane just stop and go ahead and do it. I promise you that you won't regret it. The only thing you'll regret is not having started it sooner.

it falls under experimental or amateur built. To fly it in the US or Canada you need at least private pilot's licence with a multi engine endorsement. For the amphibious version you would also need a float endorsement.

I wonder why someone be willing to spend $100K or more for AirCam, when you can have sufficient fun with Zenith amphibious for $50K ?!

I guess that would depend on one's definition of 'sufficient' fun. Personally I wanted an open cockpit airplane that would perform well on amphibious floats. I also liked the feeling of security of having the redundancy of having a spare power plant when you are 100 miles from the nearest road, town or railway line. See how far you get in a Zenith if you shut down an engine at 200' AGL.

Jimm, thanks for responding. How many nautical miles (range) you can fly the beautiful AirCam with full tank of gas ? How many gallons in total it can hold ?

@@SunShine-yd5xu The aircam holds a total of 29 gallons. Cruise on the amphibs is around 75 miles per hour so at around 8 gallons per hour we plan on no more than 150 NM legs but can stretch it with a good tailwind.
