Look how balanced the aircraft is during its landing. How tragic to see a failed belly landing, there is a procedure to follow during such abnormal event. Surely the crews did their best to save the plane. Rest in peace to all those who lost their lives and prayers to their families and loved ones. Prayers of healing to the two who lived and prayers of strength for them to outlive this traumatic experience.

My heart sank when the plane hit the barrier and exploded. It looked like everything was going to be okay with how smooth that plane was sliding on the tarmac. Too bad they couldn't slow it down. My prayers for the souls of the victims and their loved ones.

Where was the sand trap at the end of the runway? why was there a wall so close to the end? The plane was going way too fast for an emergency landing. Pilot error combined with poor engineering at the airport. There should never be walls at the ends of runways.

This is a domestic airport. The wall at the end of the runway is to minimize noise pollution from the jets.

I think this is an emergency landing and they likely have hydaulics issues with it (hence no gear down) and they had to use the engines to land instead.

I can't see the landing gear of airplane coming out before it ready to landing , it seems it causes a less friction due to malfunction of landing gear thus it was hard to control and resulted to spark of friction between the airplane and runway then eventually explode..

the problem was the speed at which the airplane impacted it. if there's an overrun, it shouldn't be traveling at the kind of speed that this was. if there was no wall, it should just be a chain-link security fence. also, just beyond the wall, it wouldn't have just stopped. it would have gone through an active road. i am so sorry for your loss, it prevented at least 151 people still unknown, 28 or 176 deaths, and 2 survived (injuries)...

I'm pretty sure that the pilot are aware about the landing gear because it tooks to 10-15 mins before landing the landing gear should be activated, and that's the time pilot call at ATC for checking if the landing gear activated or not.

Very distressing event , IMO, perhaps the pilot attempted the belly landing but the pilots did not realize the presence of perimeter fence , without the perimter fence it could have just go thru and stop on soft soil (?)

Mound of dirt at end of an active runway, real smart...not! Whoever placed that mound of dirt at the end of runway needs to be immediately fired, maybe jailed. That goes against every aviation rule and common sense. Would be like placing a brick wall at the end of a drag car track for cars to explode into when their parachutes failed to open. Talk about a low IQ decision. End of runways should never have any type of wall, the aircraft needs room, space, distance, to bleed off all the energy.

If you check around 0:14, he already overshot the end of the runway. That means he didn't have enough time to slow down. The runway can't just go on forever, you know. It will be obstructed by structures, trees, the ocean...anything. Could he have swerved to the side? Could he have gone any slower? No, because his landing gear failed to deploy. The belly of the plane was the the only means for it to stop.

@@DibIrken Lack of train, plain and simple, I've studied aviation my whole life, watched countless 'debrief' crash videos, even took lessons myself (decades ago be it) And right off the bat you can tell those pilots lacked training to handle a no gear landing. Look at other videos of jets that size coming in with no gears. They're coming in much slower and touch down much soon, at beginning of the runway, not the end. Also, there was grass field running the same length as the runway, grass field would have been better choice than wall of rocks. And that was their second attempt, so they should have noticed the great wall of China at the end of the runway when they did their first go around. Look, they tried their best, but a skilled pilot will probably also tell you these pilots never trained for that scenerio...and with todays auto pilot flights, many of todays pilots just aren't as hands on as pilots from that pass. Belly landings happen a lot without that type of explosive ending...look them up on YT.

@@DibIrken I remember when I took lessons long ago, I had to learn to do no flap landings, and how to still control airspeed, or bleed it off, be it though it was a lot easier to do in a Cessna 172 vs trying to do it in a fully loaded 737, but the same principles apply, it's just everything so 'auto pilot' now that when pilots face these type of crisis where they themselfs have to fly the jet, many of their skills are rusty.

This is NOT a video to be laughed about. You're blaming the pilots that they shouldn't have landed? Read the damn article about the accident, the plane had faulty landing gears and the crew didn't realize that it was faulty/broken. They had no choice but to try to land the plane with no landing gears.
