Very informative video and beautiful LSA. My personal preference in a low wing LSA, is the Bristell, but my high-wing preference is the TL-3000. Thank you for sharing! We ourselves are currently working on a Experimental Hybrid, Dual Ducted Fan GA A/C. Happy/Safe Flying to you Sir!

Congrats on the 1000 hrs Rich! That's a big milestone! AND - thanks for taking the time to post your top 12 tips. All very good stuff to learn from and ponder. It got me thinking - what would be my top 12 tips if I were to do a video like this? I just made it through the 'killing zone' and had a few moments of my own to ponder. I have a healthy dose of respect for my craft as well. I'll try your trick watching the EGT's on take-off. Glad to see I'm not the only one to drain my take a 100 times figuring out usable fuel levels. I've had 3 loss of power on take-off this last year. As a result, I'm always thinking of plan B. Density altitude also would be on my list. It will blind side you the moment you ignore it.

I stumbled across your videos and I cannot tell you how much I enjoy them, you have really peaked my interest and my desire to want to learn to fly. Do you still post regularly? I have been looking for more current videos. Thank you for what you do. Dan W.

WOW! 4 engine -outs with that Rotax carb gunge... Were you using Mo-gas or 100LL when that occurred?
@StingFlight

THE LAST DAY I failed to be specific enough; those were losses of power, not engine outs. All were due to debris introduced into the fuel system, due to poor fuel-hose management practices--which I avoid like the plague these days. Fuel type was not a relevant factor.

I really enjoy all of your videos and this one is a nice one too! You mention that wind from behind warms the engine quicker. Can you elaborate why that is?
@StingFlight
@StingFlight 10 жыл бұрын
Very simple: Less air--which carries away and dissipates the heat--is getting through the air intake ducts of the engine cowlings, to the engine, with the wind from behind. Also, the prop cannot push as much air back towards those ducts, with wind from behind.

Been thinking of a Sting Sport, only drawback is that my wife and I would need to shed some pounds.

Whoa! Did you REALLY say that you've had FOUR engine-outs on takeoff due to debris in the carbs? Something pretty wrong here.
@StingFlight
@StingFlight 10 жыл бұрын
Negative! Four instances of loss of full power, not "engine-outs," due to debris. This taught me to take more steps to ensure debris doesn't get in there, again.

Okay, that's more like it. What is the stipulated TBO? You friend has gone 2400, so they seem to be pretty tolerant. Our local group has a Sting, Gobosh 700 and a CZAW - seemingly a great way to enjoy SoCal skies.

***** TBO is 2,000 Hrs--but that does not mean you HAVE to overhaul if it's running perfectly, and within tolerances...

@@Jack-ne8vm I use a Mr. Funnel, with 10 micron filter for all gas poured in, through the filler neck.
