Awesome interviews (parts 1 and 2). The Functional Check Flights ("test") stories of going Mach 2 and above reminded me of my FCF experience in the F-111, where we used to go up to Mach 2.3 and sometimes more (on a cold day), at 50,000 feet, with no problem. Of course, the Vark had plenty of fuel to do that and then some! Anyway, these were some of your best interviews. Just fascinating.

A very good interview. A/C Kaiser Tufail is a VERY impressive pilot. He has always been generous when I asked him for information for my giving a lecture or making an aviation historical point. His opinions have been even handed because he tells the truth --even if it hurts. When I flew 707s in Jordan I heard stories of the part played by Pakistani fighter pilots in the Arab War against Israel. These stories were inspiring but some were inaccurate. I put some of this in my second book "Come Fly with Me--Jets." Kaiser corrected me about this but the book was already published. He is not just great pilot but a great historian too! He is in sharp contrast to some of the gung-ho, boastful rhetoric that we sometimes see pilots use on You Tube videos. I have no doubt that Kaiser will keep up the good work!

Wonder why someone like Kaiser Tufail's feedback wasn't taken when designing the JF-17. It has the center stick unlike the F-16 and the seats are sunk low into the fuselage, so only the pilot's head is visible from outside. Things he liked about the F-16 were never given as requirements for the JF-17's design. Which tells me that it was 100% the Chinese who were driving the design of the FC-1 aka JF-17.

Former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott has claimed "very top" level Malaysian officials believed vanished Flight MH370 was deliberated downed by the captain in a mass murder-suicide. The Malaysia Airlines jet vanished on March 8, 2014 carrying 239 people - mostly from China - en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. No sign of the plane was found in a 120,000-square kilometer (46,000-square mile) Indian Ocean search zone and the Australian-led search, the largest in aviation history, was suspended in January 2017. A US exploration firm launched a private hunt in 2018 but it ended after several months of scouring the seabed without success. The disappearance of the plane has long been the subject of a host of theories - ranging from the credible to outlandish - including that veteran pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah had gone rogue.
