Hello Jamie, another interesting chat. I'm with you on the F35, it doesn't float my boat, either, or perhaps that should be, fly my aeroplane! Very much looking forward to the Gannet, I remember building the Frog version sometime in the 50s.

I built the Trumpeter kit, it was basic but ok. I'm really looking forward to this one.

In one of the interviews with Airfix, the researcher said it’s separate wings for the extended options as the folding option is so complicated.

Seen that now, thanks for the heads up. Good news.

I thought great line up, especially with the Gannet addition, what’s required out of 2024 in 1/48 the long promised Wessex and ‘k’ Phantom. Which with last years buc would give a great 60’s/70’s NAS fast air and support line up.
@thescalemodellingcafe2 жыл бұрын
I can't see a Wessex owing to the Italeri kit, but a new one would be welcome.

Re: Ganet folding wing option... the 3D renderings of the CAD model in the video clearly show non-folding parts at 00:16:00. I'd not be concerned, mate =)

They are doing folded and full spread option mate, FINALLY a manufacturer sees sense!

the lanc is a 2012 tooling and the Gannet comes with two wings (bit like the Wildcat - folded option, deployed option) so I've heard.

Hi Jamie, happy new year. Firstly keep the content coming, and surly a post apocalyptic Gannet might be on the cards? On another note, having built the Zoukie F-4j and the Airfix new Bucc, I would disagree on your point about quality…they go together very similarly and are both an absolute joy to build. I do feel that we should get behind Airfix as they are really trying to deliver, whilst employing lots of guys and galls here in the UK…and I really can’t see Eduard or ICM giving us a 1/48 Gannet or Buccaneer. Cheers Si

Happy New Year to you too mate. I may be being a little unfair as I've not seen the Buck in the flesh. I have no doubt it goes together well, but the refinement just doesn't seem to be as good, they are improving though.

Hi Jamie - another great video, loved the story about RAF, you knowledge of aircraft modelling is fantastic - I’m strongly thinking of getting the 1/35 Ferret, as i recall it flying about the streets of Belfast back in the day 🎉

My return to aircraft modelling, means getting back to examples (1:48) of ex-service aircraft operated by the Fleet Requirements Unit (FRU) at Hurn, so the GA.11 Hunter is a huge plus for me. Fortunately, I hadn't invested in the kits necessary to do one 10 years ago (Academy + Aeroclub conversion, etc.). Fleet Air Arm 'birds' are another passion, so the Gannet will be a 'must'. Rather than the usual suspects, I'd fancy a COD.4 (off the 'Ark' in the 1970's) in that Black that isn't black. Mind you, I've got two different Sea Fury kits in the stash (Hobbycraft and Trumpeter) from way back, which were thought to be the best source of 'bits' to kit-bash the best Sea Fury at that time - so they'll both have to go, to be replaced by the Airfix kit of course.
@thescalemodellingcafe2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure we'll see a COD in the future Steve

Looking forward to the Gannet, will be building it in R.A.N markings (being Australian). Now Airfix could we please have a 1/48 Sea Venom

That would be nice Paul

I agree on the Hampden and the Fairey Battle in 1/48th- though the latter was done in that scale by Classic Airframes I'd like to see something a bit more state-of-the-art . While we're at it, how about a Halifax and a Stirling?
@thescalemodellingcafe2 жыл бұрын
I can't see either happening with the Italeri and Revell kits on the market, let's hope I'm wrong though.

I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't one more new tool aircraft, although having an RAF Buccaneer comes close. The F-22 being a starter set with just 42 parts doesn't count for me!

Good evening, I’m a Canadian who is an “Avro arrow “ attic and am going to ask Airfix to do a 1/72 scale as the only other is an old vac-form and the latest was a vac-form plastic conversation by Hobbycast. I’m asking because it will take a large amount of people for them to even consider it. I’m therefore asking you to add your name to the list. Forever in His service
