Stage 4.
Day 22 April 8th 2024
Late start. 1000
Photos 57-58. Stage 4. The blower. Special attention to this stage as it will be an important “Seen” part. Will be painted in No191 Humbrol's Chrome paint. Not so shiny as the Chrome pens. But will polish up nice. Delicate gluing and filing to be done. Will be 4 or 5 coats of paint. Matt black. Then gloss black. Then the 191 Chrome.
Day 23.

Photo 59. Not at all happy with some of the gaps on this piece. Definitely needs some sprue goo on it.
Photo 60. Wait 1 day for sprue goo to dry.
Day 24 April 10th.
0800.
Photos 61-62. Filing down the filler. masking tape to protect the parts I don’t want to accidentally file. Diamond files for the major work. Then nail files for final smoothing. Will let the dust settle before painting with the 1st coat of 50/50 mix Matt Black and thinners.
Day 25.
0830
Photos 63-64. First thin coat looks ok. So on with the next 100% coat. The small tin. Half full, Was looking a little lumpy. So decided to make a fresh batch of 50/50 mix. Then opened a new mini pot of Humbrol Matt black 33. A good stir. And then on with the 100% coat. leave for another day to dry.
Day 26.
0800.
Photo 65, Humbrol's Gloss Black no 21. Used to create shadow chrome. I’m not overly fond of using gloss black for anything. Tending to use Matt blacks then varnish cotes to create the look I need. But in this case. Gloss black is required to make a shadow chrome effect. It takes a whole to dry. But again. 1 day should be fine. Then it’s on to the 191 chrome effect paint.
Day 27.
0800.
Photo 66. First coat of Humbrol 191 chrome effect paint 100%. leave to dry one day again.
Day 28.
0800.
Smoothed down the first chrome coat and applied the 2nd coat. Waiting another day for it to dry before polishing.
Day 29. 15th April.
0730.
Photos 67-68. The polishing cloth and Tamiya polish don’t seem to be improving things much. Spent about 15 mins polishing the part. It’s about as shiny as it’s going to get.I’m in two minds about adding any panel liner at this stage. I will wait till the other stage parts are added before I decide.
