Airfix F16a Starter Set: Full build with instruction guide

on the bench today we have the airfix f16 starter set
this model is a old kit first made in 1982 and over the years a few new parts have been added
is this new decal but old model large starter set worth a buy?
lets see and hope it can be made into a good kit

for the paint brush, drop tail first into a drinking straw, measure and fold the excess and staple, and, hey presto you have a brush holder... just tap to release, and the bristles are like new...

Great video and I 100$ agree and to add... if you must have that model look to see if you can get it with out the starter kit as those bits add $10 to the kit.

7:56 Honestly that is very fair as Airfix nknew what they were doing putting an old kit as a starter kit which may be someone's first ever kit much less from airfix.

Think airfix was after the sale factor of f16 rather than the fun factor for a beginner modellers

Excellent build on such an old tooled kit and great paint finish you achieved using only brushes. I am looking at getting the Airfix lightning just released with new decal markings as you said it is a great kit 👍

yea the lightning was a fun build and you can certainly tell the difference in quality to the f16 kit

Dry dead paint is the norm for Airfix starter kits? 😅 Maybe they should make the paint thinner.

Personally I think it's the pots they use I have had a few revell starter sets and hardly ever get a dried pot while some starter sets from airfix your lucky to get any useable pots

When I use the brush I get streakes with thinner or without great video let me know for solutions if possible 👍

i try and use as big a flat brush as i can find in the video i use what i find to be about perfect for laying down paint with as few brush strokes as possible i also find more thin coats of paint is better than one thick coat

Just starting this kit. 2 pilots? So I'm guessing they give you the option of turning this into the training variant?

Think it used to be the twin seat version but it's set up for single only with the release

Got mine from Amazon but it was a while ago Try airfix website as they usually have all the kits in stock

Yep never a starter set… more a gift set which is what they are planning to do more of

should call it a vintage gift set when a kit is almost 40 years old i didnt know it was that old and was suprised when i looked on scalemates but atleast it made into a decent kit in the end airfix/humbrol need to sort those pots of paint out because they are crap in my view

yes i have to agree and in all honesty if they just re released the kit in vintage range they would probably sell more and the buyers would know it was likely to be a bad kit
