Looks like a good un'..hopefully as good as the earlier Typhoon..

Looks pretty good, seems to share some similar design elements as the earlier typhoon, but shame that it doesn’t have a feature like the open gun bays 😞

Wonder if that was due to the scale..

This was a fighter that was (unfairly) neglected by most of the major models' producers, now seems that Airfix finally pay tribute to it with a beautiful model, don't forget that this type of fighter destroyed a LOT of V1s, saving countless lives.

Your enthusiasm for this kit is easy to see and translates into, I gotta build one too. Hawker Typhoon and Tempest fighters for the RAF and my hometown RNZAF lack the sheer beauty of design the characterised the Supermarine Spitfire - that all others are compared to. But no others matched the muscle bound look of purpose the Typhoon and Tempest possessed. Wonderful war winning ground attack aircraft - so greatful that these fighters were on our side - or perhaps, we were on there's.

The decals look very well produced. As you presented the sprues I was impressed with where they put the pins on the part, minimal flash, texture detail (and the wheel option). Very nice kit review mate. Cheers

looks like a very nice kit but its annoying that you have to drill holes for the ariels and pitot, its not like they're alternate parts.

Don't use the yellow decals! Thought I would try out the yellow leading edge id decals on the Tiffie and it didn't go well. lol Looks bostin! One should being winging it's way to me via my LHS Going to see if I can use spare decals to do a post war livery. Get a bit fed up doing grey/green disruptive camo lol Also on the way a couple of MkII tempests from KP! Thanks for the preview. Looking forward to the new 1/43 scale cars too.

I enjoyed a talk he gave about 40 years ago, the Tempest featured prominently, he said the wing shape was because the RAF demanded that it should be much closer to a Spitfire’s than a Typhoon’s or a Hurricane’s. Bee had a great test pilot career.

This new 1/72 Airfix kit is nothing to do with the earlier Airfix 1/72 (which was just a reboxed Heller kit). The old kit was quite nice actually, but will be easilly surpassed by this brand new tooling. This is the first time Airfix has ever tooled a Tempest themselves.
