Yes.. ANOTHER new build.. this is the brand new 1/24 Spitfire from Airfix. In part one we make a start on the cockpit with assembly of the seat, thinning the plastic seatbelts and building the rest of the cockpit area ready for paint and primer. These videos are great but can you (in subsequent videos) zoom the camera in tighter? It's hard to see the details you're doing, yet there's loads of the mostly empty green mat showing. If you could zoom in beyond tighter than even the small, green, inner mat, it would show so much more of what you're doing.

It appears that part D36 (the windcreen de-icing system) is a fault in the mould, as it's the same in all the builds I've watched and in my kit. I've resorted to surgery based on photos.

I've just seen the pricing on the upcoming Takom Apache kits. The RRP price is £100, but most sites are putting pre-orders up at £89.99. Now that is expensive for a 1/35 chopper kit. So, I don't think £95 is that expensive for a 1/24 kit.

Back again . Good video. Do you think that if Red fox or Quinta brings out 3D for the cockpit would you consider it worth the outlay seeing that o o the box is good ?

flares were on the early spitfires, but removed as they got in the way of the pilots (put a 4 inch wide book at the front of your seat while driving - it feels odd) - and found not to be of use.

Hi Nigel, great informative video. Just one point I want to raise. At the bottom of the first page of the instructions under the title "For Best Results" it recommends the sprues are washed in warm, soapy, water. At the beginning of your video you decided not to do that. I'll follow the instructions as I don't want to come any release agent, greasy fingerprints etc..
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench Жыл бұрын
I normally would wash the sprues, but having seen the video where the kits are made, they stated they don't use release agents.. so I didn't bother on this occasion.
