Күн бұрын

In part 2 of this series we get the fuselage internals done, work on the tail sections with some shimming. Then we get it all primed, pre-shaded, colour down and clear coated. Whilst all that is drying we get the tail feathers put together. If you would like to contribute to the channel.. please look here.. / nigelsmodellingbench

The spare rudder is for a Mk. VIII, or possibly late Mk. IX or XVI. The Mk. XIV rudder is even bigger :)

Hi Nigel absolutely love your videos point of note about the pointed rudder that is for either later mkix spits or the spitfire mkVIII hence the separate tail wheel panels so perhaps there will be a mkVIII in the future 👍

@@NigelsModellingBench or an early F MK.XVI which was basically the Mk.IX with the Packard Merlin - those also had the fixed tail wheel. Will need new exhaust stubs I think. But the XVI is closer to the IX than the VIII is. Loving this build Nige and pleased you've decided to do it out of the box.

The remedy to oil washes on flat surfaces is to "paint on" thinner or white spirit first then do oil washes. The oil paint will stay in the crevices.
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench Жыл бұрын
Yes Will, but it will still "stain" flat paint.

Be careful with that rear panel, Nigel. The tail wheel assembly pushes the panels out, it's a very tight fit.

I too am in the process of building this amazing kit and have discovered a rather obvious omission - the elevator control rod that is attached to the control column is not included. The attachment point on the control column is there but not the rod that runs under the pilot's seat. I know, it's an easy fix but strange that they missed that feature considering the wealth of detail provided throughout.
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench Жыл бұрын
Good spot John.. I was wondering what the attachment under the pilots seat in the centre of the former was for? I wonder if it's in the kit, just missed from the instructions?

Great build so far, really enjoying to watch, love your meticulous work. I mainly do 1/48s (shelf space) but this kit is something else, and i have a MK IXc from ICM the one with the Beer Kegs.🍺 Nigel, would you consider 4k or maybe 1440p in the future? Thank you.👍 Greetings from Portugal

In the true spirit of out of the box I guess really, they just mean the parts on the sprues. Having said that there’s a lot of left over plastic that is the sprues themselves, just saying there in the box! what could you add utilizing all that plastic?

Nice video Nige, just wondering if the fit 'issues' that you mentioned are being caused, by people rushing things, as having the first kit finished on the interweb and social media, etc.
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench Жыл бұрын
Not sure mate. I have found some fettling is required to get the forward two cockpit formers in but the firewall fits perfectly. I have covered the fit issues of these in part four of the series, nothing but a little sanding and scraping. There is an issue with the fit of the tail wheel leg, but again. a little scraping is all that's required.. again covered in no 4. John has noticed Airfix have omitted the control rod from the column that goes back under the seat...
