Its hard to get into the power lineman union in california. Looking in joining the airforce to get the military experience. Veterans get to be put on book 1 as a groundman automatically, then you can work your way up to join powerlineman apprenticeship one day.

Air national guard. Especially in California you will be collecting insane BAH while you are in training. If you go with the airforce electrician tech school that is 8 months of probably 6k a month for you!

*What branch is best for electrician if you had to choose? Also does 3E0X1 teaches you how electrical stuff works on plane, boats, etc or once you learn the basic of how stuff works you can pretty much further your knowledge on specific stuff like what I just mentioned. My idea is to work at a civilian airport with planes and stuff*
@RickandRusty3 жыл бұрын
Airforce my guy but if you wanna be an electrician on boats and planes that’s different a different job than 3E0X1. 3E0X1 gets to work on buildings, power lines, the airfield. Basically all electrical other than planes, boats, etc.

I also wanna real with you about what you’re wanting. I wanted to work on planes too but see I’m glad I don’t because they work 12 hour shifts 5 days a week and are glued to one location. 3E0X1 you get to go to every building around the base

Going in as a reservist, would I get deployed a lot in this career choice? I know if you do HVAC, you’d get deployed a lot. I don’t want to get deployed a lot because I want to keep my civilian job and be close to family.
@chillboymiggy Жыл бұрын
Yes you would get a lot of opportunities to deploy. But you’re in the reserves? Why would you be worried about deploying? Don’t you choose if you want to go or not? If you don’t want to get deployed try going to a desk job like finance, contracting, intel. They don’t deploy a lot. It’s usually CE (civil engineering), services, security forces squadrons that deploy a lot

@chillboymiggy2 жыл бұрын
Not many people in the government know their trade to be honest bro. I don’t even have a licensed master electrician in my workplace. Though if you want more exposure and more benefits to being an electrician with opportunities to travel, I highly recommend joining the airforce Gaurd/reserves. They’ll get you good benefits for you and your family. You’ll definitely learn a wide variety of electrical knowledge in the airforce, but never narrow and solid experience within the government.
