Hi! I’m leaving for BMT in two months, and I got this job. I’m super excited, but also nervous, and was wondering if I should study anatomy or EMT stuff before I leave? I’ve heard a lot of people say how hard it is, especially the EMT course..

Yay!! Excited for you! Stay focused, do what you’re told and you’ll be fine 😀 as far as studying, I wouldn’t worry too much about that right now. Focus on getting through basic and you’ll be taught everything you need during technical schooling. As long as you study during your schooling I am positive you will succeed! @thesilvas11263 жыл бұрын
I went in open general and picked my job in basic training. If there’s a job you definitely want, I would recommend securing it before leaving, I definitely got lucky getting what I wanted! Also, it’s harder to go active duty to reserves than vice versa. All options have benefits, just depends on your life style and what you want out of the military!

Would you say that this job is focused more on nursing? I would like to be doing paramedic work, but I see a lot of people work in settings where they do a lot of nursing/medical assistant work.
@thesilvas11263 жыл бұрын
From my experience in this job so far, it is not focused on nursing. It also depends where you work. You could work in a clinic or hospital such as an ER, ICU, etc., it is more of a technician position where you’re always assisting a doctor, PA, NP. Also, needs of the Air Force will decide what setting you start in. It’s a very broad AFSC and there are a lot of options as far as what we can do as special duties relating to medical as well to get you closer to your end goal. I hope this helps and makes sense! Good luck!

From my experience, I think college first is a better option because once you’re in it’s your career and too many young Airman don’t realize that. Also take into consideration if you do college first, you will be paying for it instead of the military paying for it. But, college was a great experience and I wouldn’t change the way I did it! If she wants to be an anesthesiologist she should look into HPSP!! She would do her 4 years of college first, be accepted into med school, then apply for HPSP and enlist. Air Force will pay and put her through med school in return for her being an anesthesiologist for the Air Force for 4 years after med school I believe - do some research it’s a good opportunity
