Right, this one has taken a while to make, so much to learn and test.
This is my results, every rifle is different - but after 6 weeks this is the science I have.
For all you nuclear scientists out their, I did not go to Cambridge or Bolton University - but…..I can tell you -
Sub 12, yep they are accurate for hunting, they hit harder than an 8.44g pellet, no they don’t fragment in water - unless you are shooting high power and then they split apart like an orange. Am sure someone will post hunting footage of these in the future.
I would however in High Power still use the Hades .22 15.89 or the .25 version - why wouldn’t you if you had the choice.
UK - Yep - you now have a new choice of hunting pellet for .177
UK - Just be aware depending on your rifles valving will depend on how well they push that extra weight.

Great to see you back again Giles! I was curious about the .177 Hades pellets after seeing the .22 reviews. You have answered the queries I had. My Huntsman Regal devours Bisley Magnums (10.6gn) with relish, and shoots beautifully! Very consistent and accurate out to 50 metres. I only take shots at live quarry at a maximum of 35-40 metres, and the results are very reliable, so I don't think that I'll be changing. Great to have another choice though. Great video as always. I'm in the US, but I live in Illinois, where anything that fires at a higher rate than 700fps, or is larger than .177 is considered a firearm, requiring a full background check and all the fees that go with it, so this video was actually quite helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to do this Giles. Your findings are kind of what I expected. The sub 12 .177 in the UK is just not going fast enough to make any significant deformation. The same goes with the other 'specialist hunting' pellets. I have found that the JSB Exact Heavy has been an excellent pellet in my sub 12 fpe Wolverine. Great accuracy with some down range knock down power. Stay safe mate.

That was fun. I'm glad you did this video, I need to order some more pellets and was thinking about trying these in my break barrel which runs around 12 foot pound. I don't think I'll get any after watching this, not really worth it, I already have heavier lead that I need to use. I am thinking of trying a can with my pcp's though. I’ve been shooting Hades.22 @ 1180 fps out of a Walther Maximator PCO here in Oz. I did some tests on the hip bone of a sheep when I first changed to JSB. I did comparative tests and the regular pellet which was 22.4 or so, punched through with little expansion on exit. I did the same test with the Hades and found the back blown completely out of the exit side of the bone. I didn’t measure it but it was about 1 1/2” which was astounding. Great accuracy and I’m shooting rabbits out to 50 metres.

That is good news for me... I have a B2-4 in .177 and a Hatsan pcp in .22 with I use mostly around 10 to 15m varminting on our cane farm. The Hatsan runs nicely around 900fps with guaranteed one shot drops with the Hades and wadcutters. The B2-4 I love to use because its a bit clunky and so on. And I diesel it... standard its around 550fps and after dieseling, I get about 700fps with Marksman pointed tips. They're a bit light but flatten totally with head shots which at short distance, punches a 3/8 of an inch hole in a feral cat skull. I also experiment with 3D printed pellets that one of my mates makes for me. Those are horrifically fast but I've not been able to retrieve one yet which is why I don't use those for varminting yet. I subbed just on this vid and will check out the others. Respect from 🇿🇦

Great vid.....I have a fully custom built nitro piston pellet rifle..(built it myself)...shoots 1040 fps with 8 gr pellets...extreme spread less that 6fps....around 19-20 ft pounds .....Will order up some Hades and try them out and let u know how well they work in a magnum springer.....from my frozen igloo in canada...keep the vids coming

Hi Giles great to see you back and YES you could say I'm 'somewhat' jealous of you having all that space to shoot (play) in... sadly no shooting-friendly back garden here to help keep me sane through isolation (sobs). 😭 But I'd conclude from your one-shot soap test the 8.44gr JSB Exact is the slightly better pellet for sub-12ft/lbs use, as it penetrated less, and therefore gave up all of its energy (approx 8.9ftlbs @20yards downrange) in the first inch of the soap. To me that equates to being more likely to stop in the head or neck of slimmer vermin (for us pest controllers out there), for less chance of over-penetration and even greater likelihood of a humane kill. The higher-velocity Hades' improved expansion unequivocally proves it's better for use in FAC rifles 👌🏻 though I'd love to have seen a non-FAC water expansion test pellet compared side-by-side (for the science, innit?) 😇 All the best, stay safe. If they added a point or domed centre piece to the centre of the pellet. Then upon impact the addition would deform the petals of the pellet and significantly enhance the spread and therefore cause more damage to anything hit. Centre piece to act as a pressure spreader

Does not matter what shape the pellet is, if you put it in the brain, heart, or lungs its lights out, so use the most accurate that suits the barrel, is good in wind, and you have the best pellet for all situations, don't swap and change, stick with that pellet. for me they are not as accurate as a round nose, even in FAC.

Giles my daystate huntsman regal shoots daystate FT's ( tin says 10.3 but I've found average is 10.4) and it's only sub 12 foot and I'm getting an average 8.5 mm hole at 30 yards and my R10 likes the JSB heavies at 10.34 so all I can say is some rifles really do prefer a heavier pellet

Heavier pellet may be slower when fired and may lose speed faster but it would have more momentum and should retain energy better than the lighter pellet

Brilliant as always. Just one thing of interest why didn't you compare apples to apples namely the JSB heavy and the Hades, same weight same shape and the heavy shoots perfectly out of most modern PCP. As for the field testing didn't see anyone within 2m and you were obviously exercising!

I'm using polymags....gamo tomahawk....and red fires in a fully custom built nitro piston ....8 gr average.....shooting 1020ft sec....extreme spread less than 6ft a sec....shoot dime (Canadian) groups at 50 plus yards....just need to stay under sound barrier and pellets are stable....that said I have fully gone through gun (custom GAS RAM...sanded and recrowned both ends of barrel...trigger mods...custom piston...sanded seal...beveled air hole to pellet)....

Hi Giles. Noticed a rather fine brace of ELEMENT OPTICS scopes sitting on top of your rifles. Just wondering how you rate them? is the claim "you get more bag for your buck" true ? I myself am looking at getting the ELEMENT HELIX pending a bit more research on here. I just thought id ask yourself and see if you could give me an honest opinion on the Helix (If you have tried it).
