As a science enthusiast I'm very happy to see you keep the variables under control like replacing your cinder block targets. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people test firearms or armor and use the same target for multiple tests which really alters the reliability of the tests. Like if you shoot a cinder block with, say a 00 buck shot, then shoot it with a .22 the result is going to look drastically different, ya know? Props to ya for proper testing procedure!

In regards to quality and craftsmanship, yep. In regards to perfomance and power, its been a bit of a reverse bell curve, air guns, in terms of perfomance and power kinda started where we are now. Kinda. You have to go all the way back to a blow gun which was the standard for well a long ass time. Then material science came up a bit and we took a step back in ergonomics but a step up in power, and we had the bellows gun which was kinda a modernish form factor rifle affair with a flexible hose and a bellows device that provided the impusle to send the projectile. Then ŵe had the japanese air rifles that may or may not have inspired or been inspired by the star of this show, the GPAR. Girrandoni Pattern Air Rifle. Specificlly it wasnt a sigular product so much as it was a series of different interpretations of the GARP, the Girandoni Air Rifle Pattern. Basically a schematic for building a servicable and producable pneumatic rock thrower. This pattern was available for license for individuals or entities of means to use to produce a weapons platform. Very much the contemporary game changer that the ar15 was when it hit the scene. It is essientially the same form factor that a modern day bolt action or mag fed single shot repeating hunting rifle. It used a hammered and forge welded cast iron pressure vessle as the power supply and but stock, similar to how the air force air rifle pattern. It was thumb cocked with a hammer that opened the buffalo horn valve. Used leather washers as seals. It had a spring returned sliding block action and at about 4 oclock running next to the barrel, was a linear and tubular integrated magazine filled by included speed loading tubes. Held about 20 shots of 48 or 50 cal round balls. The reservoir had about 20 shots of useful pressure in it at a proper fill. It was gravity fed maning that one had to push the sliding block out of battery, tilt the barrel tip up to some degree and a round would fall into the sliding block. Releasing the block would bring the round into battery then cocking, aiming and firing could be done. Power wise it was about like a 45 acp at about 30 to 40 yards. Subsonic so it was quiet, had no flash, no smoke cloud and worked in the rain. Of course like all compressed air platforms that rely on a tank, it suffered a downward power curve between fills. Then powder platforms surpassed it, but during its apex it was a military weapon. Then air guns devolved in mainstream popularity and somehwat complexified in terms of design. There was a sort of refinement to the concept in the pritchard liquid gas air rifle that used a refillable compresses co2 bulb but was generally less powerful even if an improved design. Kinda the forerunner of co2 guns available today. Then air guns became a toy to very narrow use tool. And today we are again in the girandoni era. Just better materials and some slight design innovation.

I really love your demo of extremely high power “Air” rifle. AEA products remind me the diversity of the air rifle. Someone like competition, cares about the perfect pellets, 0.1” group, and pressure regulator. Someone plinks at backyard, cares about the loudness, shooting count every air filled. There are too many PCP rifles with similar spec currently. AEA definitely gives us another fun. I do not like hunting even kill a grass spider, but like to see how an air gun shoots the hard brick. Undoubtedly, AEA created its own market at the lower price range.

@bryanzimmerman8646
@bryanzimmerman8646 10 ай бұрын
@@ricknielson8934obviously the Bintac S45 and Zeus are pricey but they are the most expensive. I have a Challenger.30 BP with 32” barrel and it only cost 499$. Firearms guys are always surprised by the price and quickly think why blow that money on an Airgun? They however usually can’t shoot for shit. I go to the range and spend less than 15$ on one hundred shots. They powder burner guy maybe shoots 20rounds and spends more on those bullets than I do on my 100 shots. Who is going to get better faster? It’s logical really. Upfront cost is higher for Airgun but ammo is one tenth the cost. That is reason enough for me and I choose Airgun as I love shooting and the gun pays for itself in a year or two when you include ammo costs. Are they reliable enough for home defense? Debatable but then hopefully I will never need to find out

I have a umarex Hammer, .510 pcp. It's the most powerful on the market,or was six months ago. 705FPE. Almost 1200fps. And that's with 550 grain slugs. I have 320 grain hollow points. Those are considerably faster. With a 550 grain slugs, someone killed a Cape Buffalo at 60 yards. So anyone talking smack about airguns need to learn how to read. Then go sit down somewhere and be quiet.
@elijahdisinclined6841
@elijahdisinclined6841 Жыл бұрын
Also, it's 4000psi. Well, 3500. At 3500 you get 3 shots. 705 FPE each, and a finishing shot at about half. But on my ballistics charts they say a .357 mag hits with 699 FPE. So my rifle will crack an engine block. That's what they say about the .357 anyhow. Single shot tho, and if anyone buys the hammer, get a scope. It has no sights. I recommend one for a little distance, at least a hundred and fifty yards. Hundred would work. It's got the air to push it that far. And a Cape Buffalo has a hard ass head from what I understand.

Great Airguns reviews! QUESTION: Never had PCP and thanks to your videos I am interested in getting these two,: the AEA Element, and the AEA HP SS PLUS or HP MAX; the first one for backpacking,. My question is how long can these airguns remain tank-loaded? Once I reach the 3600 psi or close to it and put it away in the closet. 1 month, six months, a year??? Is it a negative thing to keep the tanks (o-rings, etc.,) loaded for too long without shooting them?

In summer time the air can hold for months, but during the winter, the cold weather makes the psi drop, just like your tires. U have to pump it up. There's a gauge so just pump it up whenever u need it.

Basically with my HP MAX .50 I would pump it up to 4300-4500psi. And if the night before has been cold then the psi will drop from 4500 to 4400 or 4300psi. Definitely check it every day if you're going to be using it as self defense, I recommend getting the HP MAX .50 because there's actually spare parts you can buy online, there's no spare parts for the Zeus or element max, if your gun needs to be repaired then you're shit out of luck until you ship it in.

A 9mm hand gun 200fpe? The weakest round I know of has a muzzle energy of 280fpe. Average 310fpe. Can go up to 500fpe depending on the round. This is out of a 4" barrell.3" is a little weaker and gets stronger when you get into rifles chamber in 9mm. The 72 cal zuses is stronger than all hand guns around 1300fpe it's about the same as an ar15 but that's kind if weak for a rifle. A common 30/06 is around 2900fpe for example.

It's great that airgun technology has come a long way but i feel like we should stop overpowering these airguns which would eventually attract gun restrictions and gun control legislations from authorities and the airgun world would loose it's autonomy and freedom from regulations, if you wanted a seriously powerful gun then there are always firearms available to suit that need and besides the main attraction of airguns is it's relatively cheaper and small calibre for specific kind of hunting and sports.just my opinion 🤞✌🤟🤘
@ShootingGearReviews
@ShootingGearReviews 2 жыл бұрын
that may be the main attraction to you but with how diverse airguns have become there is so much we can do with them and it’s just cool that so much can be done with an airgun. Besides, in the uk they are limited to only 12 ft lbs… I’m sure the “government” is aware of the airguns that are available and it’s not going to matter if it’s 1200 ft lbs or 27 ft lbs if there is a limit imposed.

4 states already have airguns as fire arms laws. Two of them are for high power the others any power. So background and wait for a red rider. My guess is that the draw for compact high power airguns is something like 50% are restricted people and people that want to avoid the fire arm process. I think that's great while unconstitutional restrictions still exist. A guy for example that got caught with an ounce of weed 20 years ago deserves an option for defense and hunting. The really bad guys should stay in jail or be sent on to the big judge. Videos with titles like this are a red flag I wouldn't be so blatant

You're under the impression that that isn't going to happen anyway lol. Look at the UK and Canada. Even the larger ("big bore" is a misnomer; in guns, that's anything over .50, generally, because that's where you start talking about balls-per-pound, rather than decimals of inches) bore rifles are cheaper to shoot than firearms of equivalent power output (since air is still free and you aren't buying powder, cases, or priming). Being afraid of these people gives them power. Not everyone is an illicit suburban backyard plinker. Historically, air guns were often .30 and larger, because they were actually meant to be a legit alternative to firearms (especially in a pre-metallic cartridge world). Girandoni's design was not the only one around in the 1780's, there were many people building airguns that had some power behind them (Militaries of the day even gave them a serious look for use as a special purpose weapon). There was a plot in the 1650's to assassinate Oliver Cromwell in a session of parliament with an air gun, that really only failed because some of the conspirators talked too much and got caught before hand. Ignorance, and it's sibling: fear, are powerful tools utilized by exploiters.

A 9mm pistol and ammo combo that only gets 200fpe would be hard to find. That is to say that 200fpe would be far below ''average'' energy for a 9mm pistol. Only the shortest barrel pistol with very light loads would be 200 fpe. None that I found on ballistics by the inch got that low. The lowest on that site was 215fpe. No doubt the hp max is an incredible powerhouse for an airgun with that compact size. However you are using huge slugs that don't fit in the mag. And even then you probably fall short of 300fpe. A 9mm with the right ammo easily exceeds 400fpe even in a carry size under 4'' barrel. A berretta 92 fs with a 4.875 inch barrel you would have to try to find an ammo that would get less than 300fpe. Your passion for airguns is great but this is misleading in my opinion. I think this was important to note. Fun to watch video though
