Hello there again Rick. I just wanted to share that the .22 cal version has performed incredibly well in a novice's hands like me. I recently dispatched a rabbit with a headshot at 50 yds. I do have to say that I encountered two issues that might help other airgunners. The first was that when I disconnected and filled up the cylinder, there was a significant accuracy loss after I reinserted it. It was partly resolved by underfilling it (apparently my power curve for optimal accuracy lies between 150-175 bar). The second issue, which is much more serious is that after 3 months use, the cylinder has started to leak on the front end. Since I live overseas and cannot access my warranty easily I have tried looking for support on how to dismount the top cap, but unfortunately it is not nearly as easy as youtubers post around. I will have to order a new one. I believe that one of the seals must have corroded due to humidity introduced by my Airforce pump, so next time I will use an air compressor from my hospital and fill up the Air Venturi bottle you suggested (clinical use air is moisture free). Thanks again for your great reviews.

Hey there.. just for giggles, go to HatsanUSA.com and contact them about getting a couple cylinder rebuild kits. It's very easy to rebuild the cylinder, but you do need to be able to get it apart. That can be a challenge the first time you do it. Maybe I can do a video on that one of these days. Cheers. AGW

Awesome review as usual! Your format and style has become my bench mark criteria for which all other air gun reviews on youtube are based on :) Does Hatsan sell the QE series parts separately (For example, the shrouded barrel or LDC on the BT65) for those of us who purchased the originals before the QE series came out? I can't seem to find this anywhere on their US website nor can I find a dealer who does. Thanks in advanced and incredible review as usual!
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
Short answer is yes.. You should be able to get your non QE gun retrofitted to a QE model. The catch... You'll have to send it in to Hatsan USA for the upgrade. You can request a price by filling out their customer request form under the warranty / safety tab at www.hatsanusa.com Cheers AGW

Another good review! Domed pellets being the most popular, it's good to understand the speed regime of the design. The JSBs you tested fall in to that speed range. Pushing a domed pellet too much faster than 900 fps can negatively affect accuracy. I'm glad you're psuhing your accuracy tests out to 50+ yards. I'd ask you to extend even further for the larger calibers like the .25. Canit do MOA at 100 yards? Nowadays doing sub-MOA at 50 yards is the new normal for .25 PCP air guns, it seems. thanks again!
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
Hey there.. sub MOA at 50 yards repeatedly is a feat that's difficult to achieve given 1MOA at 50 yards would mean consistently shooting groups under .5" (given the assumption of 1" MOA vs 1.047"). I've yet to shoot an airgun that can put a set of groups together at 100 yards that's sub MOA. If you can get consistent 2 MOA groups out of your airgun at 50 and 100 yards, you've got an awesome shooting gun. Cheers AGW
@longbowdt10 жыл бұрын
I suppose airgun accuracy falls into two general groups: with the other one being hunting. For competition purposes I've witnessed a lot of interest in sub-MOA at 50 yards, both online and at gun clubs. My interest comes from the latter,though I'm sure the former benefits as well. The latest VarmintAir blog discusses an oldie at 65 yards; it's a good read: varmintair.typepad.com/varmintairs_blog/2014/09/fx-2000-22-spent-some-time-with-an-old-friend-recently.html I tend to follow the both of you. good work!

Rick - I have an AT44 Short in .177 and a Long in .25, both non-QE versions with synthetic stocks, and both have POI shift issues. They are capable of really small groups, but it is impossible to predict where they are going to place them. I have a target for the .177 with three 5 shot groups at 29 yards, all less than .25", and all in different places, depending upon where I placed the forward rest - from the balance point to the Picatinny rail. The total shift from all of the way back to all of the way forward is about 1/2" at 29 yards. That is significant. Hatsan Service says this is evidence of a warped stock and promptly sent a new one for the .177. Unfortunately, it did not help. The first AT44 that I had was a QE Short in .22. I couldn't get it to group, though, and wound up sending it back. I now think that its lack of accuracy was due to a POI shift issue, as well, but I wasn't as familiar with that then as now. Hatsan makes accurate rifles, and small groups are great, but to be useful, you must be able to place them where you want them and not have that change with little provocation. To be fair, I also have a synthetic Marauder with the same POI shift issue, although not quite as bad, so it must be a general problem with synthetic stock flexing. I was wondering if you have seen any of this kind of thing in the syn stock Hatsans that you have tested? Also if you have any suggestion as to how to fix it?
@AirGunWeb9 жыл бұрын
+Jere Moore - the short answer is, if you know the rifle has a shift in POI when the rest point is changed, don't change your rest point. Learn to hold or rest the gun in the exact same way each time you pull it to the shoulder. It's something that you have to do with break barrels all the time. Even some of my powder burners are particular in how you hold them. If you want something more ridged, consider moving to the wood stock and see if that solves the problem. Hope that helps. Cheers AGW
@howdydoody30204b9 жыл бұрын
+Airgun Experts - AirgunWeb / AirgunWebTV That's good advice but not always practical in a hunting situation. It's why I left the world of the springer for the world of the PCP. The bottom line is that these Hatsan AT44s are apparently all very hold sensitive. I've had 3, and all are. I even sent one - a QE .22 - back to Airgun Depot because of it. Also, one of the long timers at the GTA forums has three AT44s and wound up having to remove the barrel bands on all, even the one(s) with wooden stock, thereby floating the barrels and air tubes, to cure the problem. So, with 6 for 6 as evidence, this is apparently not an uncommon issue and anyone considering a Hatsan AT44 (don't know about the others) needs to be aware of the issue and take it into consideration. Thanks for the reply.

Hey Rick, maybe you can help. I talked to you 4 months ago, trying to decide which gun to get. The AT44QE long or BT65QE. I got the AT44. It is my first PCP. Anyway I've called Hatsan, & E-mailed them several times, no return call or e-mail from them yet. When you remove the air cylinder to refill it & rotate the dust cover there are 2 holes the probe can be inserted into. Does it matter which one I use. I think I damaged the 'o'rings on the probe. That's probably the only thing I don't like about the gun, that probe thingy... I like the way the Marauder is filled. If there is only one correct hole to use, why is it not marked? Thanks

Hi Rick. Another very helpful video. Great job. I have a question. As you know scuba tanks are too expensive for most of us. A good solution is a hand pump. The question is i have a at44 filled up with pump and you have yours with a scuba tank. If we shoot at 25, 50 and 100 yards with the same setting, is there any difference to your performance and mine?(lets say we have the same skill, hold over, position). Does the air source really matter? Any cons/pros? Thanks for your time...
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
What you fill with should not matter.. However, hand pumps are notorious for being dirty and collecting moisture. Both are very BAD for your PCP airgun. Prolonged use will cause a breakdown in the mechanics of the airgun. Scuba tanks, when filled at a proper shop, have dry breathable air that's been filtered by some pretty expensive equipment. With all that said, the Hatsan cylinders are super easy to maintain. If you do go with a hand pump, just keep your cylinder cleaned out and you'll be fine. Cheers AGW

Hi Ric, Thanks for the video's. I've purchased a few (the disco .22 and the trail NP .22) based on your reviews. The disco is a 1' gun at 50yrds (mac 1 tuned). I hunt with it, and now I'd like something that will hit out to 100. Based on your reviews, I'm leaning to the BT65 in 30. The one thing that stopes me is the availability of .30 pellets. I'm in California. In 2 years, we go lead free hunting. I see lots of .25 pellets, but not so many .30. Do you have any thoughts on this? I'm thinking BT65 in .25, and hope for the best.
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
It depends on how accurate you need to be at 100.. the BT65 .25 is a great option, so may also be the AT44 QE Long. Lead free is going to be a major limiting factor if you need that long range accuracy. On another note, a lot can change in 2 years. I know that pellet makers are working to bring more .30 cal options to the market. Cheers AGW

Hey there Gary, I've not done much work with the air stripper. Some folks swear by it, others say it does not help. You can adjust the position of the stripper which probably takes a lot of trial and error to dial in. If you put in the work, it probably will help. Cheers! AGW

@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
Hey there, My personal preference would be the AT44. The Condor is a nice gun, but requires too much additional hardware to really be comfortable for me to shoot. It has great flexibility if you want to spend a few hundred more in additional parts and mods. For me, I like things to just work out of the box and the Hatsans have been one of the best airguns for that. Cheers! AGW

thomas arnett - I won't shoot alloy ammo in a 125, 135, or 150 class hatsan gun. You'll blow the seal. Lightweight Alloy ammo should be avoided in spring guns. Joshua C - consider the 1 pound of animal for 1 pound of muzzle energy. It's not a great measure or scale, but it get's people at least thinking about what's practical and ethical. If the AT44 .25 tops out at 45 fpe, then a 40 to 50 pound animal would be about the max. If you have 200 pound hogs, then you need a much more powerful airgun. Cheers AGW

I've been going back and forth between this one and the Benjamin Marauder both in 25 cal. I can't make up my mind. What do you think? Help!!!
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
For me that's an easy one. While I like the Marauder for what they brought to the table a few years ago. You have to give credit where credit is do for Crosman bring an affordable, accurate pcp to the market. But, the Hatsan Quiet Energy line of PCPs just has so much more to offer. I know of AT44 Long QEs that are shooting toe to toe with guns costing 3 and 4 times the money. Now the new BIG BOREs are out.. so you can get a QE in .30 and .35 cal on the BT65 Platform. Cheers, AGW

@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
As much as I love and respect the Marauder, I don't think it will keep up with the AT44 QE Long. I've got Part two on the computer now and should have it out soon. This is a really great airgun. Cheers AGW

DougFLA123 2 minutes ago · Shared publicly Do you have or know of a video for the Hatsan AT44-10 Long QE, that shows in detail, how to fill it with air?
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
Doug, Look up my video on how to fill a PCP under the Take AIM Series. Also, look up my articles on AirgunDepot.com's university section on filling PCPs. The process is the same for all Hatsan Airguns. Cheers AGW

Hi Rick, I have a Marauder that I fill with my Hill pump and a quick disconnect adapter. The Hatsan AT44-10 Long that I just received isn't very obvious to me. Do I remove the quick disconnect from the Hill pump and screw the filler nozzle to the pump, and then just push the filler nozzle end into the filler hole by the pressure gauge? Won't air escape when I pump it? Doug
@AirGunWeb10 жыл бұрын
DougFLA123 Get the mail foster fitting for the Hatsan probe.. that will let you use the QD on your hill pump. @air-venturi-male-quick-disconnect-3550.html Air will not escape due to the O-rings on the fill probe. Take a look at my articles on Airgun Depot's Airgun University section on how to fill your springer. I've talked about all this and provided links to the various accessories you'll need.Cheers,AGW
