Always good for a laugh when needed are these sketches from the legendary Carol Burnett Show. Reminds me of a long ago incident at the Tallahasee, FL airport (which only had 2 gates at the time.) Arriving at the check-in 25 minutes before the flight, w/ only 4 people ahead of me, it seemed getting on the plane on time would be no problem. However, the desk attendant insisted on having long, dragged out conversations w/ each passenger about the "perfect" seat; "that seat's over the wing so limits your scenic view" and "that seat is close to the galley so the aisle area might be busy & noisy - would you like a quieter one?" and on & on & on . . . and on she went. The 2 passengers in front of me started getting very nervous, as were the rest of us. When they, finally, got to the desk and she asked where they wanted to sit, they said (almost quoting) "anywhere inside the plane which is due to depart in 6 minutes!" When the rest of us expressed support for their frustration, the desk attendant decided to just issue the boarding passes without the "perfect seat" conferences.
