Great video Henry. Now here's some history for you. Yes, you are correct that the Turkish Vickers Viscounts did come to England for maintenance. '430' along with it's sister Viscounts '431' and '246' where seen by myself at London - Stansted Airport on the 3rd August 1976. All were parked by one of the maintenance hangers ( One inside - Two Outside ) at was then next to the old fire dump on the south side of Stansted. Many a oldie will remember where that was as I believe it is now buried under the current terminal at STN. If I can find the photographs I took all those years ago I will kindly forward them too you. Thank you for the memories .... John Woollard

Thank you John for the great comment. I’ve been collecting aircraft slides for the last 50 years and I have a number of slides of these Viscounts taken in the UK during their maintenance visits so this is how I knew that fact that you have now discussed in further detail here, which I appreciate. I’m always looking to acquire old collections of aircraft slides from the 1970s and back … if you or anyone you knew back then has slide collections they like to sell, please do let me know. Thank you so much again.

love your videos! Thank you! The RT-33 is a rare bird. I collect airplane parts and I have a curio cabinet with some smaller parts i display inside. Always when I open up the door I get a big whiff of old airplane smell. Its a good smell!

Very cool! That’s amazing. I think it must be the lubrication materials they use in these old airplanes and it’s a smell that is totally unique.
