could you not try something like JB weld as a cheap fix ?

Possibly worth a go, thought a bit like glue, it never seems as strong as the original. Since the piston moves very quickly I expect it would break again.

@@ChrisHorswill could possibly need gluing then a support bracket glued and screwed to give it extra support ?
