The fan isn't there because it would run out of air.... it is there to cool the motor and compressor cylinder down.
@skonkfactory5 жыл бұрын
When you compress a gas, like in the cylinder, its temperature increases by the equation p1.v1 / t1 = p2.v2/t2 where p, v and t are pressure, volume and temperature. This is also why gas escaping from a pressurized cylinder is very cold- its volume has expanded immensely, so the temperature drops very low.

I see some comments about JB Weld to repair what is essentially a connecting rod. While JB Weld is handy for various things, it is not strong enough to handle that. That motor spins pretty aggressively and fast, not to mention having to move the piston in the cylinder building up pressure, JB Weld simply couldn't take that abuse, would likely re-break within the first handful of revolutions. Only hope would be welding new material on and machining to fit. Not worth the effort in these units, they are dirt cheap normally and do not last long. I tore apart a few of these over the years, same fault and not worth fixing, however, in Vince's case, he had two identical units to make one work and it is content for a video, so its a win win as cheap as he got these. I wish I had I decent camera / skilled in editing videos back when I did a ton of repairs, would have made for some decent videos. I enjoy watching Vince work on stuff, he does nice videos. Oh, and from my experience, that fan is to cool that motor, as these can run for quite a while inflating a totally flat car tire, both the motor and compressor pump can get quite hot!

That's a nice pump; the auto shutoff feature is a big help. But I'm surprised at the screw-on fitting; I've never seen a pump like that without a clamp-on compression fitting, though they do sell clamp-on adapters you can fit, so you don't have to worry about loosing pressure while un-screwing the hose. The only other thing that pump lacks is a counter-rotating weighted gear to reduce the vibration, but that's not a huge deal; I put a small bungee cord on mine so it didn't dance on the pavement while in operation.
@jeffbguarino Жыл бұрын
I have never used the lights on these pumps, So I buy the pumps without the lights since they are cheaper. You should also feel air pressure when the motor is going. So the problem is in the pump for both of these. You don't need a tire to pump up , but they would be a better test of the unit.

KPA stands for kilopascals... our atmosphere has a semistable pressure of 101.325 kilopascals, or 1.01325 bars. (semistable meaning a very minute fluctuation (around 1-3%), which is one of the main reason why we have wind; high-pressure air always wants to go to a lower pressure area) A pressure higher than that means the object has a higher volume of air packed into the same amount of space (relative to the atmosphere). That is why a tire(tyre?) feels rock solid when tapped; the air literally wants to escape (and it always wants to escape to a lower pressure, in this case: the atmosphere), and it literally pushes against the rubber wall of the tire(tyre?). The same applies to a *lower* pressure (like a vacuum chamber), but this time it's the air *outside* that wants to go *in.* kg/cm2 (or rather kgf/cm2) stands for "kilogram-force per square centimeter). It indicates how much mass of air is being ejected per square centimeter of outlet (or exerted on a square centimeter of surface). The air inside a tire(tyre?) will try to escape, and if the inlet valve is open but plugged to a pump/pressure gauge, the air is going to try to move that way. That is why your pump can sense the pressure; it's not how much pressure it's emitting, it's how much pressure it senses the tire(tyre?) holds, and cuts off when it reaches that limit, so as not to overextend the pumping. Two reasons: 1. If the tire(tyre?) has too much air, it can degrade the driving experience and/or weaken the rubber. 2. If the pressure is *WAY* too high, the tire(tyre?) can burst, which can be dangerous. It also means you'll have to buy a new tire(tyre?)(this is getting tyresome...). Of course, some of what I just wrote might be wrong or slightly incorrect, but I believe most of this to be accurate enough. Anyone else are free to correct me if they find a fault in my writing. And don't get started on the tire(tyre?) debacle: I know it depends on nationality, I just want to bridge the gap, or meet in the middle, or... gah, I'm just trying to be nice to everyone! 😔
@pcno28323 жыл бұрын
I learned about tires bursting the hard way when I tried to inflate my bicycle tire with one of those gas(petrol) station pumps they used to have with a gauge that popped up with the reading; I didn't know at the time that such gauges read zero until you let off on the air valve so I kept waiting for it to move until the tire blew up and rendered me deaf for the rest of the day. Good thing it happened when I was too young to drive; with a car tire, I'd have been a right mess from the explosion.

No replacement around and no reason to replace because gearbox and piston are made from plastic anyway :( At least cannibalized the 12V DC motor, switch and wire with 12V connector. Interesting that switch too is 6A/2A 250V, but working motor demand 10A+ current poor switch begin to warm up and melt - noticed slight melting remains around middle pin. Fan is to cool down the motor and gears, that piston shoud have a rubber sealing, you should clean it along with cylinder and put fresh grease because it will get hot and wear easy. I have the same compressor but without electronic gizmo parts. You will never use it for a car tire - it will die imediately (if not stright away or soon after). Use it to inflate bycicle tires, playing balls, beach matress and etc. The good compressors must contain air bottles to store reserves and don't load the motor.

Cheap pot metal construction means that these little compressors don' t last. Sadly the same cheap motors and pumps seem to be in most of these, even some of the named brands that you would expect to be higher quality. Pack it all with grease and don't run it for long periods, and you should get a little longer life out of it. The piston should have a bronze bearing on it, but the bearing is that crappy Chinesium pot metal arm, running on a steel shaft. Engineered to fail I'm afraid. Worth it for £7.99 for two though, and you get a free pressure transducer and reasonably powerful motor to play with, from the dead one.
