I'm so happy I found this. I have a gaming PC in an open faced desk cabinet and it has been giving me anxiety every time I run it intensely. It gets pretty hot despite the crazy amount of fans and water cooler already installed in the computer case. This is a godsend for me. Thank you for demonstrating how to get this set up.

Awesome - Mine runs only when I play XBox for 30 min, then it kicks in. After I power off the Xbox it runs another 20 and shuts off. I love the thermal sensor!

Great Job, Thank you. The one thing I looked for while watching your video (which others didn't touch on) was whether I could implement an intake/outtake system. You demonstrated that the fan could be reversed and I was sold. Thanks again.

@@LazyDayz316 did you consider getting an additional fan for intake?
@LazyDayz316
@LazyDayz316 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I thought about it and went ahead to see how this performed first. The fan only comes on when I play X Box. It turns on about 15 minutes into game play and shuts off 5 minutes after I finish game play. I think it's great and sufficient enough for me. I recommend it to anyone looking to keep a cabinet/equipment cool.

I have one running 24/7 in my cabinet where my modem, router, and UPC (battery back-up) are kept. The fan has been going for around a year now just fine.

I couldn't understand why you wanted to reverse the fan. However, after the installation, I noticed you wanted the "pretty" side exposed from the inside of the cabinet. It's not like anyone would go behind the cabinet to look at the "pretty" side, so I get it now. Thanks for posting this. It helped me.

you got it, exactly, as long as it pulls heat out it is most efficient. You could use 1 to pull air into a cabinet and a second to blow air out if it is a really hot environment.

good stuff. youmight want to get an AC Infinity T8 for the top of your AVR receiver to cool it down and draw air out the back

I got dual fans. Would it be a good I idea to have one blowing cool air into the Xbox intake and pulling hot air away from the Xbox exhaust or would it be better to have both pulling hot air out?
@LazyDayz316

The website for Airplate shows one at the bottom of the cabinet to pul air in, and a fan at the top to blow air out (since heat rises the air at the top is the hotest). I have not tried that but it makes sense to me. I also have a small remote thermometer that I can check to see what the actual cabint temp is, and adjust the fan to come on as I desire.

@@LazyDayz316 I appreciate the reply. There’s no way my wife lets me get away with a fan on top of the shelf but I’ll definitely install the incoming fan lower and the outgoing fan higher

Awesome setup you have. I have a similar setup except I took the middle shelf out to place a pc sideways. Then I took out half of the plywood in the back out. So the lower half has plywood with a hole for cables but the top half is exposed. Now although there's air flow, It still generates heat at the top and was wondering what you thought and how would you go about it? I was thinking should I just add that half of plywood back on like yours and add the fans or leave it open and place the fans elsewhere?

I would consider a fan for air intake and a second for exhausting the hot air...more air flow is better.

I'm considering using this near the bottom of a wall in a 2' x 6' closet that I'm converting into a vocal booth. I'd like it to draw the cooled (or heated) air from the adjacent room into the closet. I will also install a "Return Air Pathway" (from the same company) near the ceiling of the closet to allow air to flow back into the room. What do you think?

Mine runs typically only when I have my Xbox running. I can barely hear it and I am able to keep my doors to the cabinet shut. The sound does not bother while watching TV and it usually shuts off 5 minutes after the Xbox is powered off. I recommend the fan and love mine

I have a 3.5 cubic ft space in my entertainment center. Currently I have an xbox one x in there on the top shelf with an exhaust fan and on the bottom shelf an intake fan. I am removing the shelf, so my question if I keep my tv center doors open do I need an intake fan(have two exhaust fans) or keep one intake and one exhaust fan?
@LazyDayz316
@LazyDayz316 4 жыл бұрын
I have found it more beneficial to pull the heat OUT, an intake (if you have enough exhaust) is still good too. I would get a remote temperature sensor, place it by the X Box, then keep an eye on the temp when you use the system (with and without doors open). I tested my network cabinet this way when I was placing my router, modem, surveillance system, power back up, etc. all in an enclosed cabinet. For that cabinet, I leave the fan on 100% of the time and it is set to Med speed...

@LazyDayz316

Yes, you can daisy chain two fans or more together. I had a couple plastic feet from a past project, I just sat my Xbox on them to raise it off the shelve for better air flow (you can hot glue them on if desired). You can use anything similar to keep it off the surface and it does let air circulate better.
