Released in 74. The backing vocals are Keith Richards. You can hear him in many Stones songs and he has quite a distinctive voice. Probably also has Mick doubled in there as well though.

David Bowie also on backing vocals. Kenney Jones on drums, Ron Wood on guitar while still a member of Faces and Willie Weeks on bass. Richards added his guitar later as the initial track was good enough to use
@davegaskell76802 ай бұрын
@@flyingburritobro68 On the original 'demo' recording at Ronnie Wood's house, yes, but only the Ronnie Wood guitar part from that recording made it onto the final album version. The Kenney Jones drums and the Willie Weeks bass parts.....and indeed all the other parts (other than Wood's guitar) were replaced on the album/single version. Wikipedia is actually wrong on this point. Most biographies and histories of the Stones say Charlie and Bill were on the album recording. Indeed, the original demo version recorded at Ronnie's house is on KZbin and if you listen to that version, you'll clearly see (well, hear) that the drums and bass are different.

The creation of this is kinda crazy. Ron Wood (who eventually became a member of the Stones in 1976) owned a big Georgian house called The Wick near Richmond Park in London from 1971 to 1977. The Wick had a studio in the basement and the house became a hangout for the rock royalty of Britain; Moon, Harrison, Starr, Clapton, Richards, Jagger, Bowie etc. The basic track for the song was recorded at The Wick in December 1973, and included Jagger on lead vocals, Willie Weeks on bass, Kenney Jones on drums, Ron Wood on guitars and backing vocals, and David Bowie on backing vocals. The Stones reshaped the song in the studio, with Richards recording new guitar parts, and Jagger recording a new lead vocal with altered lyrics. However, they decided to keep Wood's twelve-string acoustic, the backing vocals, bass and drums in the final mix. The song was written by Jagger and Wood, however, it's credited to Jagger/Richards. Wood instead took sole credit for "I Can Feel the Fire", another song written by him and Jagger, which ended up on Wood's first solo album the following year.
@davegaskell76802 ай бұрын
They kept Ronnie Woods guitar part from the original 'demo' recording but whilst wiki claims that Kenney Jones's drums and Willie Weeks's bass were also kept for the album version, most biographies and histories of the Stones say both were replaced by Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman for the album/single version. The original demo version recorded at Ronnie's house is on KZbin and if you listen to that version, you'll clearly see (well, hear) that the drums and bass are different.

Another factoid Charlie Watts wasn't able to make the recording so a studio drummer substituted. Charlie being gracious said it sounded like he was playing.
@davegaskell76802 ай бұрын
Where did you get that factoid from? The prevailing story is that Kenney Jones played drums on the original demo (recorded at Ronnie Wood's house) with Willie Weeks on bass but both those parts were replaced by Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman in the recording for the album/single version.

Ron Woods and Keith Richards sing background vocals on this song and it is rumored that Ron Woods actually wrote the song however Mick and Keith always got credit for songwriting as per an agreement with the band. Similar to the Beatles agreement they made when the group formed where Lennon/McCartney would be credited for all Beatles songs even though John Lennon wrote almost all of them himself.
