IMO they both look really good, just go with what color you like better. Only ones I would avoid are green and silver due to dirt causing discoloration on the top.

The material quality is just awesome but otherwise the Sony WH 1000XM4 are just better.

Better battery, but that's about it. Noise canceling is about equal on both. Airpods are more comfortable (much less sweaty/hot than the Sony). Sound quality on Airpods is clearer.
