I talk about the 4 best options for bringing milk on an airplane for your toddler (if you're no longer exclusively breastfeeding or doing formula).
My toddler is currently on a bit of breastmilk AND fresh whole cow's milk while I slowly wean him, so I was wondering what my options would be for a long flight.
Here's what I've come up with! I hope it helps you. Please let me know what other milk options there are out there for toddlers in the comments below.

Exactly the video I was looking for. Thinking of shelf stable milk as well. Let us know how your trip went and which option worked in the end. TIA

I went with shelf-stable milk for this trip and it was PERFECT. I also tried fresh milk in the thermos and loved that option as well.

I have gone through security with a 64oz canister of milk and never had an issue (only internationally) I only have one child who drinks milk now and I want to try taking the horizon shelf-stable milk instead! I was worried about security though because I tried to bring a bottle of chocolate milk one time and they told me they would let me do it this once but aren’t really allowed but I also had the canister of milk and that wasn’t a problem. Security is so weird!!! lol

It seems to sometimes depend on their mood doesn’t it? So frustrating.

Oh man I wonder if I can bring a cup of milk for my 5 year old? And my 3 year old only drinks watered down juice :(
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans 7 ай бұрын
I once saw a little kid get his juice boxes taken away in the TSA line 😩 So sad! But if you give yourself enough time, I’m sure you’ll be able to get some milk and juice after security to bring on the plane with you (or worst case scenario, they’ll probably have some on the plane).

Have you tried bringing toddler milk for over 2 yo? I am Canadian and we will be flying to Japan this Summer and will stay there for 2 wks. My toddler only drinks Pediasure (the premade bottles). I am worried that we won't be allowed to bring a lot. I have already checked and Pediasure is not common in Japan.

Hi! I know the language of the Canadian security policy says up to 2 years old, but we've flown recently with our 2.5 year old with liquids and weren't given any issues. Are you checking any bags? Could put enough for the 2 weeks in your checked bags so you know that you'll at least have it for your trip --- And then pack enough for your travel day in your carry on and hopefully they won't give you any trouble. I think if you explain that it's medically necessary (the only milk your toddler can drink), there shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!!

Yes, well... I brought a pack of 4 small-ish ones! I'm not sure of the size -- One carton fills an 8-ounce sippy cup about twice.

Hello, Thanks for sharing this! I’m planing to bring 5 shelf-stable milk for my toddler, does the TSA will open that bottle to check the liquid? Because once it’s open it will be spoil within hours and will be a waste if my toddle doesn’t want to drink it after.
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Жыл бұрын
Hi! They are NOT supposed to open it! They can test it without opening it. And you might need to have additional screening (like a pat down). If they try to open it, ask for a supervisor and show them the language from their own TSA website (google it and have it ready on your phone). I brought shelf-stable milk and had no problems!

Back then my daughter was 2 , I am in Canada as well . I was going in vacay to punta cana , at the airport I had one bottle of lactose free milk as that is what my baby drink, and the security guy made me dump it as much as I try to talk to him didn’t work at all . Now we going back and she still is lactose free milk and 3 years all pls advise I am traveling with sunwing, at the Resort they not always have lactose free milk 😢 I don’t know what to do
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm sorry that happened to you :( Have you tried lactose free powdered milk? There are many different kinds. In Canada, you can buy it at Bulk Barn or order it on Amazon. They may also have it at Whole Foods, but I'm not sure. I would practice with it in the days or weeks before your trip to see if your child will drink it. Good luck!!

Yes, you can bring water if it's for the baby! I've had no problems bringing water on the plane in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and the UK when it was for my son :)

Hy my daughter is 26 months old can i carry a big bottle of milk as i am travelling for 16 hours straight… On tsa canada they have written children under 24 months
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Жыл бұрын
Hi! I haven't come to this stage yet with my son but I will soon (he's 22 months old). But you're right -- the Canadian security agency says that you have to be traveling with a child under 24 months in order to bring larger amounts of liquid with you (over 100ml). This is unfortunate (TSA in the US, on the other hand, doesn't seem to specify age on their website). If you want, you could try to take your milk through security anyway and hope that they don't ask for your daughter's age. I've been flying recently with my son and nobody at Canadian airport security ever asked me how old he is. If it were me about to go on a 16 hour flight, I think I would fill my large Stanley thermos with milk and hope for the best. Worst case, they would ask me to empty it and then I would refill it at a cafe after security. Just make sure to arrive at the airport nice and early (4 hours early is recommended when flying internationally with a baby or toddler). I hope this helps!

If a child is over a year old, they can drink regular milk bought from the airport or from the plane. Why make things overly complicated and pack too much...
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Жыл бұрын
Definitely! It's easier to rely on the airport or the plane -- I guess I'm just the type of person who would rather overpack a little bit and have everything I need than be in situation where I can't get something (closed cafes, not the right kind of milk on the plane, etc.).
