This may show my age, but I once flew from EU to the US with a sword I had purchased. It was a scimitar, for dance, and was appropriately packed and sealed in it’s own box that I carried with me on the plane. As a petit teenaged girl, the security agent was confused as to why someone like me would have such a thing. I explained that it was a prop for middle eastern style dance, and even demonstrated some choreography. Me and my sword got waved thru the security check. Yeah, I guess the world wasn’t quite as serious of a place back then….

My gf went through TSA and had a particularly odd object that the securtity worker couldnt quite identify. She was gifted a pretty expensive adult toy by a friend of hers and the TSA guy apparently went from suspicious to "oh shit" and turned really red. He goes "is this?" And my GF goes "it is, want me to pull it -" and before she could finish her sentence he goes "NOPE", sends the bag through and goes "have a nice day ma'am." She goes "awww thank you, you too" and blows him a kiss as she walks away. Ive seen her mess with people like this before and all I can say is "dont feel bad, she does this whenever she can"

We pulled a bag for what looked like a knife. Turned out it was a crystal butt plug and my god the stuff these two gay guys had. The most impressive was a full body gimp suit. But the two guys where what truly what made it that memorable. One was a normal chill dude but his partner was the most flamming gay person i ever met think big gay al but stick thin and maybe 90lbs. When we pulled the suit he happily exclaimed "oh look bill they found your pajamas" the poor guy was looking down bright red and looking like he was about to die..

I was twice that passenger. At the first time, I had 3 hairpins which a female Chinese TSA agent was convinced that I had a pair of scissors, made me even doubt myself for a few seconds. The second time it was in Amsterdam and I had a brand new perfume bottle. To me it look like a normal bottle, but on the scanner and to the Dutch TSA agents, it looked like a hand grenade. My heart sunk but luckily, after seeing what it was, we all laughed. 😅😅

I used to go to ball-jointed doll conventions in the before times, and every *single* time, I must have given the TSA some amusing stories for the day. Apparently, in a twist that should surprise no one, a suitcase absolutely crammed with large resin dolls looks really weird on the X-Ray. One kind agent even pointed out that the metal s-hooks that hold them together where what got their attention. Bear in mind these hooks have flat tips, usually, and are near impossible to cut yourself on. But they are metal, so it checks.

The child was still born prematurely, and the family was taking the body back to be buried at their home church. They just didn't know the procedures for doing that and just packed the body in their luggage in a sealed, clear container. The procedure was at the time you have the remains sealed up at a licensed Funeral Home for transport. You brought the remains with the documents to the Airport Check In for your Airline. And after confirming the situation, the Airline Rep would Walk the Remains thru Security. They were flying Mexicana IIRC and had the paperwork from the hospital. They just didn't know to do all the rest. A Mexicana Rep took care of it and they were able to take the remains home on their flight.

I have a story about this. I completed a 4 month study abroad in Germany and was on my way back to the US when I got stopped at security when my checked bag was scanned. I had to turn it and the TSA people called me over to the scanner. They pointed to a small area in my bag full of metal gears and a couple of metal torpedo shaped objects. It only took me 10 seconds to realize what it was. It was a black forest cuckoo clock I had bought in Germany and wanted to take home. However, I had to admit that on an x-ray photo, it definitely looked like a bomb. I got to keep my clock.

I had never heard of it until this video. A little research shows that Arizona also has no state-run liquor stores. I guess I could have figured that out, pretty much every gas station and grocery store has a well-stocked alcohol section. While I have no intention to ever drink, I think government interference in the alcohol industry is silly.

I took a train the trainer course while I was in the army for IED defense. It was a week long and we learned all about bad guy xplosives and techniques. Basically, lots of fear because the terrorists are what MacGuyver would be as a Wolverine. Anyway, part of the training was learning how to train spotting IEDs on the side of the road. One of the days we spent outside planting fake IED that go beep instead of boom. They were functionally and visually identical to the real thing. We broke out into teams and adopted a section of backroad. One planted, everyone else used that as practice. We did decoys and all sorts of scenarios for hours. At some point base security was called for a suspicious looking package or whatever. Cops were all up in a huff and by the time the students that planted their "bomb" figured out it was their zone the cops had cordoned the area off and called in EOD. Fortunately our teachers already let the local EOD unit and nearby city police they were in the area. Whoever was supposed to get the message to base dispatch didn't and wasted a good hour or so of the cops and security time. The reason I bring that up is because these guys doing the training are all ex-CIA and EOD guys and they travel all over the country doing the training. While they do check bags for the majority of the gear, they always need to have a few devices in their carryon just in case their luggage got lost. The class must go on for the good of the troops was the justification. Oh my to be the TSA when those guys roll through with straight up booby trap equipment in their suitcases and stuff. They told us many funny stories. It was excellent training and put an amount of respect of the enemy that has been lacking in our class.

When i was a child, i got treated really badly by airline security. I was like 12 or so, but i was from by social behavior a bit behind, i got scared a lot, didn't talk to be people i didn't know. My parents and i went from Germany to London as vacation. I think it was on the way back where they pulled me over to search me. Again a 12 year old, i did not speak their language i was just scared because I suddenly wasn't with my parents anymore. The searched me, made mit take off my shoes, screamed at me when i didn't react to them, i did NOT understand English that early in life and then told me to stay there. They left, and the entire airport moved on. I just stood there, afraid, looking for my parents. Strangers would walk by me and i was forced to just stand there like a fucking criminal. They never actually let me go, my dad just came to get me so we wouldn't miss our flight, maybe he talked to them or something. I still can't explain why they screamed at me, when i obviously couldn't understand them and why they seperated me from my parents just... because. Since then, i don't want to travel by airplane anymore. Now that i'm an adult who knows what they do to me if i don't properly understand them.

I seriously thought I was going to see a goat, because I saw some live chicken and some small bird cages as hand luggage. Most birds were sleeping and I don't remember any smell. Gemstones valued at $30k? I assume you just let the person pass, because that's not illegal. Since it's not cash, i doubt you even have to declare it. There are watches and jewelry with more than $30k in gemstones, which would pass without issue. So i would assume that loose stones would be fine too.

I had all the necessary tools required in a small suitcase sized plastic box that I had banded shut and covered in company logo marked tape. Whilst passing through airport security, the box was attracting attention. The guy on the scanner called more people over to view his screen and kept looking at me. I asked if there was a problem. They asked me to explain what they were seeing. So I pointed out the slide-hammer, dial type torque wrenches, soft faced mallet and various screwdrivers and wrenches packed out with overalls and rags to keep the contents from moving around. They were very relieved that it wasn't the machine gun, spare magazines and explosives with timing mechanism that they thought they had found. After all that they believed me and let the box through without opening the box. I must have an honest face.😂
