The story about the good owners and then the business change because of management. I really think we've seen the last of a breed of store owners, or business folk that did a good profit margin but not scam people, the kind that worked hard along side their employees and don't have that "owner" attitude. It's been awhile now but my old apartments had an owner who kept rent at a rate for which the apartments were affordable for the 2 bdrm. Once she died her sons turned to a management company and not only does rent soar every other month but no there was no upgrade. Same 2bdrm was at 450.00 in 2012 and 6 months after management took over it was 725.00 for previous tenants and the new renters were charged 1100.00

IIRC, dollar dances were a thing during the Great Depression as a way to help the newlyweds get some extra help without it feeling like pity or a handout.

I was in a business meeting in Germany with some German Engineers. One of them was mouthing off about stupid Americans, I turned to him and said some stupid Americans under stand German in fluent German. That guy was not in anymore meetings, and the others there all apologized.

I was teaching at a high school. The school I was at had a large ESL population. Most of these students spoke Spanish. We had a few who spoke other languages. We had one girl who spoke Russian. She learned I spoke Russian when she said something about not liking the school. The funniest instance to me was when I was covering a study hall she was in. A girl who was not in the study hall entered the room. I checked to see if she should be here and returned to my computer. She then brings over her sister and asks the Russian girl to curse at her in Russian. The girl looks at me and says, "I can't. She knows Russian." The other kids look confused at me. In Russian, I tell her that she better not curse at this girl or I will write her up. She looked at me and understood. The kids who didn't know me looked shocked. She knew I was the only person in that building who could understand her Russian.

Cleaned my trunk yesterday,(was filled from my dad's stuff, never got cleaned when he gave me the car 2 years ago) moved a hanger, saw this mouse pop up, scream at me which caused me to scream and proceed to sh!t talk this mouse from 3 meters away while my mum laughed at me. Pretty sure my neighbours thought I was weird as hell 😅

Once I lent my phone to a homeless woman I had just met. She had a friend, a man lying on the ground. We talked. He was mumbling, so I bent down to hear him. And he got more mumbly, so I bent down further. I was bent most of the way over, and suddenly realized, "hey, he got me in the perfect position to have a bottle smashed over the back of my head" Nobody did that though. They were just nice. And she was so thankful. it was stupid to bend down that far. I refuse to believe it was stupid to have the whole interaction and lend my phone to someone, I'd do it again.

My older sister, I wouldn’t say she’s a nightmare but I hate her and she hates me, let’s see if I can temper most of the things she’s done 1. When I was younger I asked her to get me some water please, she hands me a cup with soap water 2. She can act super nice at but some small things will make her go crazy 3. Hates me for being a therian, she thinks I’m a furry 4. Makes fun of me for no reason There’s many more but I can’t remember

Fun fact today's nuclear bombs don't suffer from the same nuclear fallout as the original ones because their fusion bombs not fission so it doesn't make the land a nuclear wasteland because of fallout but it definitely obliterates the land. The reason they exist is because United States and Russia had a big dick measuring contest and neither wanted to lose but neither wanted to whip it out

It does not matter if the girls are “pretending” to self-harm or not. Any injury they caused themselves or each other was legitimate, and even if they didn’t harm their own skin, it doesn’t mean they were not engaging in self-harmful or self-sabotaging behavior. That very much sounded like a situation where the medical staff were mentally fatigued by the emotional situation and starting to form judgments against their patients. This just makes everything worse for everyone and pushes the girls to engage in worsening behavior. Please do not ever assume someone is faking self harm. Just shut up, do your job, and move on if you notice you’re starting to form judgments. You’re actually useless to them at that point, doing more harm than good. A lot of people who work with the mentally ill do not know how to shut up and move on, and it causes the mentally ill to backslide in their treatment progress severely. Stick to the point: this person is mentally unwell. If she cuts herself open, she is mentally unwell. If she begs you to wrap her in cellophane, she is still mentally unwell. Mentally well people don’t ask for shit like that. Ugh. That EMT irked me with that pathetic “the REAL self harmer’s cuts were smaller” bullshit like just leave. You are a waste of everyone’s time talking like that. What the fuck is the difference between a shallow slash and a narrow puncture? It is still a wound, dipshit.

Its kinda not that important, but one day me and my brother were at our grandparents house and he was playing outside. All of the sudden concerned, I asked Nana where my brother was and she said 'hes playing outside'. That was a bit weird, sure, but he could be somewhere i couldnt see from the window so okay. Turns out he snuck into my parents car for fun and ended up stowing away TWO CITIES OVER. Big sister feeling fr 🤣 anyways, he was fine. ❤️

Ok, so, my grandma's doctor probably had an oh sh*t moment when he finally took my grandma seriously that her baby, my mother, was actually coming out. The doctor had kept sending grandma home because they claimed she wasn't in active enough labor to keep her there. She was only dilating at 4. My grandma passed out several times because of the pain and when a nurse took another look, she saw feet coming out of my grandmother, she still wasn't dilated, but they had no choice but to get my mom out, she was too far down to do c-section. My grandma and my mom nearly died. My grandmother's pelvis was obliterated, and my mom was rather crushed up. By some miracle, both survived. If my grandma hadn't been so young and naive back then (she was nineteen), she would have sued them to high heaven. But likely, due to her being so young and a woman of color (she's indigenous) and how things were even back in the 70s in a red state, she probably wouldn't have won.

Story 11 is actually a real thing some people are taught. When you or someone you know is having a psychotic episode you can ground them by having something really absurd, stupid or funny happen. It will completely bring them out of said episode and almost forces them to ground themselves to understand what just happened.

I had a story that's similar to story 4. I met this friend on Quotev and he was on the verge of ending his own life. I tried helping him by talking him out of it. The next day, a friend logged into his account, and posted an activity saying that he took his own life. I still feel guilty for not trying harder.

For the last comment by the narrator about all the random stuff on the internet and how no one will go through it all to figure out who did this or that. Just wait until we have a good enough artificial intelligence with enough processing power and someone will get the idea to have it do all of the checking and tracking.

My high school Spanish 1 class once made our teacher cry. We actually had a moment of shock at the realization... and then promptly doubled down on it. We weren't terrible people or anything; we realized that she'd been trying 𝒔𝒐 hard to keep from 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒅 at our antics that she'd actually started crying from the effort. It didn't take much more to get her to laugh.

When I was in the US Army I was stationed in Germany for three years as part of an international unit. Because the communications equipment I was supposed to be servicing required training, there was an instruction course I had to take. In my class there were soldiers from the US, Germany, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. The classes were taught in English (because everyone could speak it). We worked on the equipment exercises with a partner, and I was assigned to work with a German soldier. He could speak quite good English, though not perfect, and I suggested that since I was bilingual in German, we each speak our native language to each other. This worked well, because there were no misunderstandings -- we each understood the others language better than we could speak it. I can imagine that it sounded odd, though, to the others. Remember the conversation that Han Solo had with Greedo in the first Star Wars film? It would have sounded like that.
