I can assure you the effective range of 5.56mm on a L85a1 sa80 rifle as an individual is around 400m. As a squad the effective range is 600m and that was in the 90's. I can remember knocking over 'Huns heads' (fig 11 or 12 target - the smaller one can't remeber which) at 300m with a respirator on as part of the yearly individual weapon tests to remain qualified on that weapon type. Good videos by the way, love the ammo speed testing one done recently.

I'm currently around £7-800 into a full custom sr25 build, with I think the same again left to spend, based off an a&k receiver, no base gun, every part is going in on its own and chosen without really questioning value, only quality, its a fun project so far, awaiting retro arms cnc gearbox, parts and carbon fiber barrel right now :)

Sounds great! I really want to build a really accurate Mk12 at some point.
@Monk-Darlington5 жыл бұрын
@@AnvilAirsoftTV how great it is will depend entirely on if it can reach out to 90-100m or not, but it is a fun project, I've taken guns apart and tinkered before, but never really grasped how many bits are needed until you need to buy every spring and screw yourself lol
@AnvilAirsoftTV5 жыл бұрын
Monk yeah. That’s why I’m using a donor gun for my Colt M653 project. Lots of things you don’t really think about. G&P don’t put a lot of the receiver parts into their kits as they were first made as replacement receivers for broken TM guns and you guys used parts from those.

JD Airsoft does some cool stuff. Some sites get a little restrictive on the DMR role and even some do not even support it. Fun though when they do as long as players do not abuse it. "Safety First, Fun Always!"
@AnvilAirsoftTV5 жыл бұрын
It can be so open to abuse unfortunately. We have hugely varying site rules for DMRs in the UK.

I just got done building my SR25 up into a proper DMR. Here in the US we generally use 1.88j as the limit for DMRs and they have to be semi locked for most larger, well regulated fields. I like to use at least .32g Bio BBs. I have yet to buy some heavier weight ammo to try. I still have a lot of room in the hop up to lift heavy BBs. But with .32g rounds I'm getting huge, effective range of about 230ft. I'm sure using .36g or .40g rounds I see further effective range. Also, I have discovered that a solid side arm is a must have when playing the DMR roll. But I love it so far! Getting into fire fights with someone with a standard carbine M4 is kind of funny. Well to me... LOL!
@AnvilAirsoftTV5 жыл бұрын
We have some legal limits in the UK. Most sites settle at around 1.6J though.

Just clocked this .. cheers guys plus subscribed 😉👍 I was looking into DMR on my TR16 MBR 308SR, it's new so was reluctant to lose my warranty, it's a pity someone hasn't come up with a 3D print of the trigger selector, where it can't go any further once it's in semi... so for now I'm keeping mine at 350fps max and I've been using it so far for suppressing fire down in a last frontal attack and taking out snipers while I've been dug in and surrounded by ferns 😉👍👌 interesting info guys .. appreciated
@AnvilAirsoftTV5 жыл бұрын
That’s a pretty good idea. Design it so it can’t go into full auto. Would save drilling a hole in the receiver and tapping it for a pin to block the fire selector. I might talk to English Kiwi about that as he has a 3D printer.

@@AnvilAirsoftTV I've spoken to a few guys about it at airsoft sites who use DMR and they said such a simple idea yet works, plus the added bonus is that when you need to sell it on or warranty issue, you can just switch back on the original one 👍😉 some M4 and others have either two lines in a straight line or straight line and the other vertical depending on the trigger selector. .. if I'd had the equipment I'd of done this long ago, but I've only been doing airsoft for 5 months now .. I learn quickly and good at problem solving 👍😉

problem you have with DMRs is there are so many muppets playing our hobby, that abuse the DMR. They crank it to 400fps and cos it looks like a regular rifle they ignore the MED etc. Saw a guy get thrown off site with his arp9 dmr. It had a red dot and drum mag and wasnt even locked to semi as he used his phone to tamper with the mosfet infield after chrono. This sort of behaviour is why so many sites are getting strict with the DMR and why alot of players are starting to hate on them. I have a TM recoil Scar H and I love the gun and feel that unless a site knows a player well then they shouldnt allow any DMR's that look like regular rifles to ensure fair play and safety. Bit of a rant i know but, i do like a ramble :D
@AnvilAirsoftTV5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. It’s partly why I would like to see only replica real DMRs being used. No drum mags, bipods, magnified optics. Just makes it harder to be an idiot and everyone knows what they are facing.

Can you DMR gbbr? I want a GHK M4 for plinking so safety isnt an issue.
@AnvilAirsoftTV4 жыл бұрын
You can. If you buy a GHK stock it’ll be doing 400+ fps stock anyway. I had the nozzle changed on mine to bring the power down to UK legal levels before I imported it. I’d check with your countries laws though to be safe. The auto sear can also be removed in a GHK so it won’t fire in auto.
