Got the Airstep Kat for my Katana 50 MK1 a day ago and it’s great. It makes the amp more flexible for channel switching and turning effects on and off, giving the MK1 50 access to run 5 effects at a time instead of 3 as designed (boost, mod, fx, delay and reverb all at once instead of one or the other). I was running my Katana with a largish pedal board but now, after playing with the Airstep Kat for a day I am going with the Kat in Panel Mode and using the effects switching for colour and leaving my pedal board at home. Job done! Another great sounding video too Rich 🎸

Hi there! Can you also use this switcher to have the four channels available with one foot step? (as oposed to having to also change the bank like with the FS6). In that case I would have to run my FX with my pedals in front of the amp, because I also have the 50 MKI which doesn´t have fx loop. That´s a whole other problem. I also ended up using the Katana as a pedal platform, but when I find that the native sounds of the amp sound much better tahn any pedal combination.

In your experience is it better to turn effects on/off within a preset within a song And only change presets when going for a totally different vibe.

Tube shortage Back to the Katana. Thanks for the heads up about the funky controller. I think I'm good running a pedal board still though. Really just use the Katana as substitute Fender. The shortage has me thinking about a Blonde Tone master twin HARD. Pissed Nobody in the Amp selling business saw this coming!

You would need a 20 foot usb cable to use it on a large stage. If you're using other effect pedals- you would need the 1/4 inch cable plus the usb cable to reach the amp. This unit would have been better if it had a remote connection of some kind.

In the UK the Boss GA-FC 6 way Footswitch designed for the Katana is half the price of the Airstep .

That boss foot switch will not work with MK 50 watt. 100 only. Just ordered the air step kat for 99.00 here in U.S.

This unit also lets you to control many of the functions with a tablet or phone. Pedal is Bluetooth to devices.

Have a Katana 100 Mkll 112 the only downside I see with the Airstep is no Expression and Volume jacks. I guess you could run the expression pedal into the jack on the back.

Or you can get the Airstep Smart Multi which has all of the ports you would want and runs 2 EXP pedals.

Need some help with my Airstep Kat … For some reason I Can’t understand how to update the firmware… and only get this message…”Error The update failed, please restart the application and try again. Exit “ I’m using the App Airstep Updater . All my connections are good, Bluetooth ect…I’m able to use the Katana Air and Katana Librarian Apps on my iPhone witch prove my connections … What do I need to do ? Also witch Firmware do I need.. ? I have the lasted update on my Katana Amp … Could you please help..? Thank you very much !

I also, have a Katana 50 Mkii, but mine does not sound so good right now, I might have to check out manufacturer's warranty, or get real on my self/hand fingers and i should practice enough..Man..Great playing, specially the 1:22 to 1:50 wow...blew me away, and the song/solo at the end of the vídeo..really direct from the heart notes..congrats..I gona check out somewhere in my country the pedal controler...Many thanks for sharing..

hi thanks for the content. I have problem with my AIRSTEP KAT. When I plug in to my Katana 50 Mk2 using the original cable, I switch On th amp, switch On the Airsteps, the light letter 'I' is not on. I have check the manual asking to restart the amp, but still doesn't works. I have fully charge the AIRSTEP to green. Please advice, thanks

That's the thing, it's never the same. Song, venue, studio. You can't just say here is exactly how to do it. Guys that say this is my exact setup always are full of it. Not sure thats what you were saying but 🤣

I get what you're saying. Playing live is so different to the studio. The venue, the acoustics, the backline, PA or not, mixing desk or not. You have to be able to respond on the fly, not have an exact setup. I like your style anyway.

Expression pedal input? I've been It's a game changer for the 50, but I've been using the 100 the GAFC and the juca nery Katana librarian app it's pretty good but it's not blue tooth Incredible tones you're getting!

Thx for this video! I love my Katana and with the AIRSTEP it gets even better. But I would still like to connect it to my computer (where it is showing up as Katana, Katana 1 and Katana 2). Is there an adapter available so that I connect from the USB on the Katana both to the computer and the AIRSTEP?

Does the Airstep need to be connected to your phone via Bluetooth to operate or can it be operated completely without a phone connected at all?

If plugged in with a cable you don’t need to use the phone/tablet, but the real purpose of the Airstep is to allow you to control your amp using BTS on your tablet or phone wirelessly with Bluetooth. The reason you have to use a cable at all with Katana is because Katana has no Bluetooth (like the Spark does).

FS-6 is limited only to clean, drive but no mod effects. and a lot of hissing sound.

I’m a bit confused. Why not buy the GA-FC switch since this is not wireless? Great patches by the way! Could you please share the .tsl files?

You can only change presets with the GA-FC, you can't turn on and off individual effects. Plus this $40 cheaper. Those weren't any patches I had saved, just the default factory presets.

Yes, GA-FC allows for switching effects on/off as well for each preset. I suppose its only advantage is that it also works for the Katana 50 model

Apparently if you hold down the switches while in effects mode (other than reverb), it will switch that FX module between the three different versions (colors) of that effect, as stored in the patch. Additionally, if you have an iOS device, you can connect it to the Airstep via Bluetooth… and the the Airstep itself can connect to the Katana Air iOS app, which in turn allows your Katana to be controlled by the Katana Air iOS app. Nice alternative to bringing your laptop to a gig for Tone Studio. I’ve got a Katana Artist coming to me later this week… can’t wait. I’ve already got a MIDI controller that should work just fine, but even still I’m thinking long and hard about getting one of these Airstep doohickeys.
