you can select „write to amp“ to directly save your patch in the Katana. No need to export to a pc.

The Airstep would be almost perfect if a) the green light of the “effects” buttons turned yellow and red to correspond to the Katana's 3-tier panel functionality, and b) if there was a separate light to indicate which bank of presets (A or B) you were on. These additions would make the unit many times more usable while performing live.

I think that’s all fair enough. Especially your effect colour idea. For the 50 MKii, this is eons better than the 2 button option with the external port. And there are only 4 presets available for the 50, so it wouldn’t really make too much difference in this case. Maybe they’ll add these ideas in a future update. Got an Air step Kat about 2 weeks ago and using it and the GA-FC. Really expands the control you have for live gigs. So far I keep the Airstep in channel mode for the ability to change channel and bank at the same time with one press. That frees up the GA-FC to be in effects mode. Although you can't cycle through the effects like the Airstep it still is a lot better. I love it!

Really good product demo man, job well done 👏 What pisses me off ... I've got a 100 Mk2/212 with a GA-FC and Airstep seem to be able to beat BOSS at their own game and provide functionality that BOSS themselves don't. For me, the most important is the ability to cycle through effects 1,2 and 3 for BOOSTER, MOD, FX, DELAY, etc. on individual patches. It would be a game-changer in terms of live performing. The latest Katana Mk2 software release version 2 adds some needed GA-FC functionality in terms of solo boost, expression pedal function change (in my case from volume to wah) and two separate tap tempos, but to add further functionality, I can't see how BOSS can add anything more to the GA-FC without further long-pressing or double-pressing, which like the OP, I don't like either for fear of missing pressing both buttons simultaneously. The Airstep and the GA-FC each have their relative merits, but what the Airstep does to their credit is to bring GA-FC-like switching capability to people who have already committed to the lower-powered Katanas. Kudo for that 👍

The way I see it, you have five patches at your disposal on the 50: two in the first bank, two in the second, and the panel! Make sure your panel setting is easy to remember. Set it there after you’re done moving the amp. I’m considering a hatch to close over the control panel, to prevent curious hands from getting in and changing things

Ayyyy Fellow Aussie here from Perth. I only just bought a Boss GA-FC which is awesome... but I'd prefer this thing since it's wireless... I didn't know before this video, damn. And CHEAPER. Nice Vid! Oh... I'd probably get some footswitch toppers to make double pressing easy to pull off.

Thank you for the clear demo! - my main need before I buy a Katana and the Airstep, and you showed it briefly is this: I want to be able to click for 'Solo', so that I get a volume increase to solo, and click it off when done. Can this be done with whatever effect i am using for either a Patch or Effects mode?

Wow, as a beginner, this is a lot to take in, but this Airstep looks better than the FS-7. I haven't fooled around with Katana much, but I am trying to get a handle on switching between channels and banks, and a footswitch looks like a good way to move around the functionality of the amp, while at the same time leaving the jack free for a pedal.

Agreed. Even as a non-beginner it’s a lot to take in! If you were to get one, start with the basics and you eventually learn the way to use it that suits you best. For me the FS-7 was way more confusing. This is so much more useable.

hi thanks for the content. I have problem with my AIRSTEP KAT. When I plug in to my Katana 50 Mk2 using the original cable, I switch On th amp, switch On the Airsteps, the light letter 'I' is not on. I have check the manual asking to restart the amp, but still doesn't works. I have fully charge the AIRSTEP to green. Please advice, thanks

I’ve had zero issues with mine. It’s a shame to hear that some people do have horror stories, but I feel like you hear the same stories with everything… Computers, cars, milk…etc. You know what I mean? By this stage I can only imagine they’ve gotten on top of it. Based on my own experience, it’s bloody great!

From memory I didn’t need to configure anything, it just worked. Have a look at the app, there is a full description of what all buttons and presses do.

The good thing about this amp is that if you don’t want to tweak on a computer, you don’t have to. If you do want to dive in and get ‘studio quality sound’ then the option is there. But if you just want to plug and play, the amp is still very tweakable and sounds great straight out of the box. Plus you can save your presets from the panel. No computer needed! I’d definitely recommend trying one of you can.

No unfortunately, not with this one. But they do have other midi controllers that would do that.

Can you also explain how to connect it to the amp? There is not a 1/4 inch adapter which the Katana has for the foot switch plug in the back and the Airstep 5:19 does not ?

The Airstep KAT comes with all connections in the box. It uses the USB to plug into the back of the amp.

Correct. You can’t connect to the computer at the same time. But there is the iPhone app which allows you to access all functions.

My amp got messed up too. When not using pedal, no sound comes out in panel mode now and only works with using the four programable channels.

That’s unfortunate. As you can see I didn’t have any issues. I would definitely contact the company and look for a resolution. My other suggestion is to update all firmware and try again. Sorry to hear about the dramas! So unfortunate. Good luck to you both.

Two things. First, make sure to offload your patches to the computer. Then, factory reset the amp. That should restore complete functionality.
