Really good how to bud, looks much meaner with that airtec cooler fitted. Thanks for the effort taken to film this, will really help anyone intending to do this themselves.👍🏻

Hi mate, six point sockets are your friend when it comes to rusty bolts. They grip on the flats of the head and don't round them off. Thanks for the video, I am doing this job soon, great to see how it's done so I know straight away what's what. Awesome job.

Got my intercooler fitted today mate. You took the mystery out of it, so I could just crack on and get it done. Big thanks. Funnily enough my drivers side standard intercooler mounting bolt was seized like yours. Strange. But....the old 6 point socket got it out easy enough. Yep, you can feel a noticeable extra bit of drive going up through the gears, ahem..... but my drive to work in the morning will be a good chance to test her out. I start work at 4am so the roads are all mine on the way in! Not a bad little job, took me about 2 hours, but I was poncing about doing some anti rust coating on the radiator bracket and stuff. Looks great with the Zunsport grille too. I'm still waiting for my number plate, so plod will have to excuse me for a day or 2. Next mod I'm doing is the RS vac pipe. Cheers mate, look forward to what your doing next on yours. You, George and 03ANO are my go-to's for info. Enjoying seeing those lovely ST's getting tricker.

Well thanks again for a very professional and interesting video Bay. It was a tense moment when that thingamy whatsit rounded off, but hey, with a special appearance in this week's video,of Blue in Crocks all was well in the end. Very good. I was particularly pleased to see you both together sharing expert skills. Being so close to sea will rust anything metal so you did very well to get that off. XX

For the stage 2 tune do u just need a bigger intercooler and induction kit
@AutoBay3 жыл бұрын
I would highly recommend a full exhaust system, with either sports cat or decat. Also RS spark plugs. I’d also highly recommend the RS clutch kit if you haven’t already. It will slip else 👍🏼

Did you feel an increase in mid and top end mate??
@AutoBay2 жыл бұрын
I felt some low end power change, yet it requires a tune after install mate, less pressure when increasing the size of the intercooler. You need a tune to compensate for that loss of pressure

@@AutoBay I managed to pick up some new bolts as Airtec never delivered. Those 2 damn bolts just wouldn't come out. Had to refit the under tray in 50 mph wind and rain in the end. Then when raising my trolley jack to remove the axle stands a major fuck up happened. Trolly Jack slipped and went through the passenger floor! Garage charged me £222 to replace the intercooler........and then remove the passenger seat and carpet to re weld the floor in the end. Let's just say I have better days in my life mate.
@AndyUltra3 жыл бұрын
@@AutoBay I managed to get new bolts for the new intercooler myself. As for fitting it, those 2 rusty bolts just became rounded off. Absolute carnage. Then whilst under the car the heavens opened up and i got soaked. Never been so wet. Eventually i gave up. Refitted the under tray and decided to take it to a local garage for them to deal with it. This was just the start of a friggin nightmare! I used my hydraulic jack on the drivers side to remove my axle stand. Finally going to the passenger side i went to do the same. With it peeing it down, getting soaked and distracted i failed to put my jack in the right place. It slipped and went through the passenger footwell floor. So the garage now had to fit my new intercooler and re-weld the floor. Seat and carpet had to be removed. This was not good. Cost me £222 for all the work to be done. Anyway all done now. Thank god.
@neil_st60734 жыл бұрын
Nice video, shows it's not as hard as people may think. Did this by myself a year ago and 2 pairs of hands would have been helpful but I just used a trolley jack to hold it while I put it on lol. Those Bolt removal kits with the spiral inside the sockets are a great investment for £25. I used a kit to removal a virtually circular rear calliper bolt when I did my brakes. When did you change the name btw?

@AutoBay2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, ensure that all hoses are fitted correctly. Making sure there is no boost leaks, I’m not sure if a boost leak can throw an ESP light but it’s the only thing I could imagine it being. Unless it’s just coincidence, and the light is caused else where, but has come up at the same time as you installing the cooler 🤔
