Airtel 5G Plus is the new 5G service launched by Airtel in India I was in Delhi for the Airtel 5G Plus launch and in this video I give you information about Airtel 5G Plus, the speedtest and what you can expect. I also was able to interview the CTO of Airtel India and try to answer most of the common questions that you guys had about Airtel 5G.

Note:- Smartphone vendors needs to roll out 5G network OTA update setting on 5G smartphones before you would be able to access 5G even in the 8 cities where Airtel has rolled out. It's already been rolled out for some smartphones but still for many phones like even iPhones, Motorola, many Samsung phones the update is yet to come... that should come by next week or so. Not working on my S22 Ultra in Bangalore. The Airtel thanks app says 5g supported City, but phone does not support. But their list of supported phones lists the S22 Ultra as supported. My guess is it's not supported on e-sims.

we actually don't realise how much data we waste on speed test. one day, I checked Jio and I had 800Mb left. after 3 speed tests, I had 650Mb left... Approx 50Mb data is wasted just doing 1 speed test. Please remember this thing when you do a speed test .

With this 5G speedtest it consumes over a 1GB of data :) Mine was a post-paid connection so I didn't notice but when I checked my data balance that day I had used 11 GB of data in just 1 hr at that event doing all those speedtests :)

Check speed after a year, it will get slow as 3G. Here in UK it was very fast then after a year and many new subscribers speed is 20-30mb downlod in normal build areas. When many subscribers use 5g or any mobile broadband speed gets slow. Basically one 5G tower gives aprox 10gbps. If there is 500 people watching 4k youtube on one 5g tower, max speed they will get is 20mb each( 20mb is required for 4k youtube). Yes if you are in less crowded area and close to the tower you will get fastest speed your device is capable of

In Mumbai we have Realme 8s and Samsung M52 neither phones so far showing 5g. Setting in both phones is 5g/4g/lte/3g/2g. 😕 let's hope it starts soon in our phones too. Upgrading to 5G doesn’t mean you will consume more data. It’s just that you can access content much faster than in a LTE network. Data consumption is directly related to the content you are using. Also, most likely once the adoption goes high people can expect to see speeds of 80-150Mbps in residential and cities where there is a higher density of users. Heck yeah if it gets too congested expect it to drop to even 25-40mbps. These very high speeds of 600+ Mbps is something people would see only either when they are close to towers and also when the network load is less. And 5G coverage is also less compared to LTE so more towers are required. At least this is my experience from using 5G abroad for more than a year now. In fact a very nice LTE networks can reach speeds of 220-240Mbps

That can happen if someone uses mobile hotspot and forgets turning of auto update for apps/system. Specially Windows based systems are data eating worms. At least in 4G we had enough time to detect and stop the auto update.

In 5g your data will be used quickly yes. And it will cost you more than 4g to use the same amount of data. And after a year your 5g speed will get slow due to many new people wanting to get faster speed. Because the user limit on 5g tower will make your Internet slower. I have used 5g and 4g in same areas after a year of 5g launch and both had same speeds due to many users using same 5g-4g tower. Remember max speed of 5g is aprox 10gbps. Divide that into 500 users you get 20mb speed only. If more users it get more slower many times. And distance from tower matters a lot

With the growing Economy This will reach the Entire corner of the Country. The 5G rollout will be most beneficial to the Office spaces and some Government agencies. Which are not in some remote places. It will take time it will reach. And we have to look at the capital cost too, with changing time our needs and technology changes too. We don't have to spend the entire Budget on 5G rollout, we would be naive to think that. As it will only lead to debt mounting.

With no hate to Jio or it's users, today I ported out from Jio to Airtel because of connectivity issues. Until mid August 22 coverage at our location was fantastic 3/4 bars signal strength ~ 25 Mbps, suddenly this dropped to 1/4 bars occasionally going to 2/4 signal strength ~ 1.5 Mbps. Initially we thought that this might be a temporary technical glitch so we ignored this for good 1.5 months and finally had to change the operator. Also there is significant amount of call drops when dialling to Jio from Vi/Airtel at least at our location. Also, Jio is the slowest network wherever I go while travelling.

I just want providers to be done with EDGE after 5G gets introduced to all so that you either get 5G or you don't get anything. You won't have to see that 'E' everytime you're in a weak network area. That way atleast we'll know if providers are actually giving us 5G or just hyping it and charging us for 5G but giving us EDGE like speeds.😅

Airtel has increased it's 5G speed, but what is the use when it gets over so fast with daily 2GB plan is over in 2 hours. So, getting 5G is not at all advantage for common people whose 4G was running for whole day. Now to use 5G, has to spend 4 times for whole day. So, 5G will benefit for telecom companies and Government more, not common man.

Wow almost 100MB/ps that's really good but these advancements in bandwidth or radio spectrum for connectivity mainly target urban centres or densely populated places, rural areas still suffer badly from connectivity issues and customer complaints usually go nowhere, i've been complaining to both jio and airtel about network issues since 4G was first launched and i still can't get 100KB/ps consistently.
