Here is another hybrid STB which gives you the best of both worlds. The android experience as well as the DTH channels. This is an in depth video of the xstream box I have been using for a while now.

One thing I absolutely miss in this android stbs are lack of 4g sim slot option. Presently my airtel Internet Tv is working like a dream. 1+ years now.

Hi Kapil, I don't think sim card is required. I mean if you absolutely have to use wifi hotspot from mobile we can with the wifi connectivity. I was impressed how they improved from their previous iteration.

Thanks Sunil for your feedback. I found both HD quality to be pretty good. Unfortunately I cannot connect them side by side since it's just one cable. But production quality itself of channels these days is so good that it really is hard to choose.

Netflix & HDR is not a problem for me (absent in tatasky) as i have a LG 55" 4K TV which support HDR PRO & all the ott app..i want to get one android setup box for chromecast ,better voice recognition (speak odia words in English)& wider selection of apps..channel change with voice command is really useful..which one should i choose?

I think airtel layout is simple. And more intuitive when compared to tatasky. It covers your wider range of apps as well. And has google assistant as well.

No. It's pretty much the same. I felt Amazon prime was a little slow. Not so much that it would make re-think my choice. Rest was pretty normal.

How to enable dolby audio in airtel xstream

Hi Chandrasekar, Dolby audio is actually enabled by default. If the channel supports Dolby audio, the output would be Dolby audio. I have connected to my soundbar, and it changes to dolby for certain channels.

Can you pls check and advise if the surround sound works in the ott apps installed in this xstream smart dth device ? Amazon Prime and hotstar are playing audios in stereo however it shows 5.1 in the content description. I have connected to my Sony home theatre via high speed hdmi. The channels work in 5.1 but not the ott apps. The surround sound works only when I cast content from my prime mobile app .. but the same doesn't work for hotstar.

@@8bitGoan actualy i bought sony bravia x90h 65 inch . I have siti hd+ set top box so i have to keep all the settings compromised. That is why i am asking that xstream has 2.0 hdmi and hd channels could be better.

What about the live channels like news and sports available on the mobile app? It seems we dont get the live channels for free on the xtreme box... I already have the 200 mbps airtel fiber connection. But i dont have the airtel dth

Hi Ashutosh, live tv channels like sports and news is available on the xstream app. I had this feature when I was a postpaid customer as well. Now since I already had postpaid and dth of airtel I swapped to airtel one plan. You can find out more about it with airtel.

@@8bitGoan thanks i use a jio sim but have a postpaid airtel fiber plan of 200 mbps.. On the phone i get live channels on the xtreme app but i have doubts that the xtreme box for tv will not have the live channels without additional fee... Let me check with airtel.. Thanks for replying.. Cheers👍

Hi Ashutosh, xstream login is automatically created on your box. All content from xstream catalogue is under the tv shows and movies section, except live tv. So the app allows you to watch ott+ live channels on other devices. And the xstream box let's you watch ott stuff through xstream section and for live channels you have to shift to the DTH side.

there are several plans for Airtel Xtream Fiber which starts from 500(40 Mbps speed pack) ..... do these plans include the channel subscription(DTH channels) too or we need to pay for the channels separately.

Hi Nirmal. The airtel one plan 1999 and 1399 covers your airtel postpaid,fiber and dth. The plan I have selected is 1999 which has 3 postpaid connections (free calling,sms and cumulative 95GB data), 200Mbps fiber internet and free xstream box upgrade with 500Rs worth of channels. I think the 1399 plan also has a similar package. (Price is excluding GST) You can check this with airtel for the feasibility and other plans. Hope this helps.

Hi Ramnik, as per airtel, it's true unlimited. There is no FUP. On the Airtel account it shows 3333GB, but after confirming with airtel customer care, they said it's unlimited.

@@8bitGoan in North East state that im currently staying on there's no airtel fibre internet connection as yet. Therefore I'm using both BSNL ftth 100 mbps & Jio fibre 150 mbps plan. My question is - 1)as there are no airtel fibre connection here, can I still use the Xstream box as an Android box by connecting to either my jio or BSNL wifi connection in order to acess apps like Prime video, Sony liv premium which I'm already subscribed to. 2) Can I install 3rd party apps like Mobdro, Pikashow, showbox etc by enabling from unknown sources settings? 3) Can I install & use my Nord premium Vpn on Xstream box?

@@8bitGoan and lastly, will the Ott apps like Netflix, Prime video and 3rd party apps installed on the Xstream box function through my wifi connection without paying any monthly rental fees for the Xstream STB box? Some people are saying that it can be used without recharging the DTH fees while some are saying we need to pay the minimum DTH monthly fee for the STB to work even if we only want to use the box for internet based Ott apps & 3rd party apps like live tv. It's getting confusing. Can you shed a light on this?
