For me, it is Gold Rusher and the original Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain as well as rows 1 and 4 on the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland. On most steel coasters that I have been on, they would normally be a one and done if they are too rough almost every time I go (and in the case of Matterhorn, rows 2 and 5 are the worst rows to sit in thanks to very little leg room). As for the original Colossus, I found the roughness on that ride to be enjoyable for the most part. For Gold Rusher, even though the back row beats me up every time I go on it, I can easily ride it repeatedly thanks to the ride having the shortest line out of all the big coasters in the park.

I would say El Toro and Skyrush are the two toughest coasters that I love. I’ll ride them over and over again despite the roughness, because I don’t find them painful or uncomfortable, just not smooth, if that makes sense. Also, their layouts are fun, unlike a coaster like Magnum XL-200 I didn’t like as much as others because it was rough, uncomfortable, and the layout was not that exciting for me. Then you have the real dumpster fires like Firebird and Green Lantern which are just painful and I don’t plan to ever re-ride those. I’d say, that’s the line lol.

My mind immediately went to Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce. In principle this ought to be one of the best woodies in the world. In practice, the last time I rode it I just couldn't fully enjoy it, it was so rough. (To be fair, that was before the most recent rounds of retracking.) Canobie Coaster still rates it as the best ride in New England. I think his roughness tolerance is just way higher than mine. Then again, when I rode Stampida at PortAventura, I'd heard all sorts of people complaining about how rough it was, and I didn't really have a problem with it. So I think this is a lot like tolerance for spicy food--it varies over orders of magnitude. (Also, the same coaster can give you radically different rides on different days.)
