Buzz drags his Realistic DX-200 Shortwave Reciever out of the storage closet, and gives you a tour of this classic receiver. It was sold by Radio Shack, back in the 1980's.

One HUGE advantage the DX-200 had over the DX-160 was the DX-200 bandspread was also calibrated for the then authorized International Shortwave Broadcasting Bands as well as the Ham Bands while the DX-160 bandspread was only calibrated for the Ham Bands.......

Thanks for the Info. I saved for one back in the 1980s and never got one. Just the other day I found one on eBay and took a chance and won the bid for it at $57.50. It arrived and is in almost new condition. The radio actually has that old fashioned new smell. LOL Can't find a thing wrong with it. Wow. Hooked up to my 200 ft long wire with a 9-1 balm and a good earth ground. Wow, I was shocked at the overall reception. I think It was worth the 38-year wait. I just ordered the cap and trans,. replacement kit and the service manual. Not that it needs it. I have fun with tunning and brings me back to the 1960s etc. I also have an old Realistic 160 which still works but needs a tune-up. I actually like this radio far more than the 302 series. Something about manual tunning that makes you more part of the radio at least on my part. I guess its never too late.

I remember having those in my Radio Shack where I worked in 1982, if that helps. We hooked our radios up to antennas, which a lot of shacks did not do.
