This is perfect, very, very well done! If you told me it was a studio recording made by Kraftwerk I would believe it. I always loved this track. They kept this slow Airwaves opening for the 3D version of Airwaves, but of course the Tango song was never performed again after the 2003 concerts in Australia. I have no idea why, it is a cool tune. The other instrumental track from Luton '97 was based on Soft Cell's The Art of Falling Apart, but this track and the one from Lichthof '97 appear to be original. One of Kraftwerk's many mysteries.
@KlausBahnhof3 жыл бұрын
I believe the three instrumentals from 1997 evolved into songs that appeared on Tour de France Soundtracks. One of them definitely bears strong resemblance to Aerodynamik. Never knew that one of them was based on the Soft Cell song! That's one of their best. It has a very dark industrial tone, complimented by Marc's melodramatic vocal of course.
@Fuchsfein3 жыл бұрын
@@KlausBahnhof I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Kraftwerk often reworked songs into new ones. Ruckzuck became Trans Europe Express and Kristallo became Showroom Dummies, for example. I like that Soft Cell song too. Another interesting thing I noticed is that one of the three new Kraftwerk tracks was only played in 1997. The one called "Lichthof". The reason for that is that the music data got corrupted. In Tokyo 1998 they tried to play Lichthof before Radioactivity but the song was broken and would not start. That's why they had to abandon that one.
@KlausBahnhof3 жыл бұрын
@@Fuchsfein Wow, that's interesting and unfortunate about Lichthof. Surely they saved the data at Kling Klang but perhaps didn't have a copy on the road with them... Yes, I'm convinced that those instrumentals became the basis for TDF Soundtracks. I can't remember which is which, but one of them became Vitamin (I think) and another is definitely Etapes 1 & 2. Listen to them back to back and I think you'll agree. That came as a revelation to me after puzzling over this question for years. Also, in keeping with the band's philosophy, those instrumentals don't have strong conceptual themes so would be deemed unfit for release. Still, it's a shame they didn't put out a 12'' EP for club djs or something. Soft Cell are brilliant, This Last Night In Sodom is the pinnacle for me! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

They brought back Tango just today
@Fuchsfein2 жыл бұрын
@@Kilomenjaro Indeed, they played it again for the first time in 19 years on May 2, 2022. At Teatro Arcimboldi, Milano, Italy. And they played Non Stop too. The 1993 MTV jingle song that wasn't officially released until last year. That's a wonderful surprise.

I heard Äetherwellen/Tango last year at a Kraftwerk concert. I searched everywhere to find the name of the song after Äetherwellen, it was such a bop at the concert, finally found the name and had to find out it’s not even released :( Love your cover, sounds almost like it sounded live!

What about Lutton and Lichtof? Love your covers man, getting addicted to them just like to the Kraftwerk themselves))))

Kind of sad that andrew has gone inactive. It would only take a lichtof cover to be happy forever. He has said though that the vocoder yodelling or whatever kraftwerk did is really hard. And lichtof has a lot of that.

I love the portamento added to the prime melodie. By the way Andrew... it's always good to hear some new Kraftwerk music without the echoes of a hall room or stadium. Nicely done sir! Keep up the good work because we also want to hear that other Innovative song that has a very long German word which I cannot remember at this time. ✌😜

@AndrewShawMusik4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I really enjoyed making these visuals. I was definitely inspired by Falk's latest work. You'd have to ask Kraftwerk to know why this, and the other two unreleased tracks, were unreleased. There are rumours as to why, but we can't know for definite. I can definitely hear the influence of the three songs in the 2003 Tour de France Soundtracks album, however.
@desouzafelipe4 жыл бұрын
Andrew Shaw yes, it was a question for the universe, why they not released that songs...well, for us Kraftwerk fans, any new thing discovered and cover songs sounds like a fresh new release, we have to deal with this reality, so, keep making new covers, they are good!

Some of the sounds in your renditions of these unreleased tracks are absolutely spot-on. They are so close to the originals that I can only assume that the Synclavier plays a very prominent part in their sound, even to the current day. I assume they must also be using the Arturia VST.
