A Look Into the Future of Air Cargo

As a FedEx employee who works the ramp, I'm curious to know what will come to replace our dedicated MD-11s. The 767 being too small and the production coming to an end soon, and the 777 being slightly oversized for most ramps that can handle an MD-11. The 787 (if it ever happens) will need to match the container sizes of the MD-11 (mostly AMJ's). However the 787 fuselage is too narrow for these I believe. Which puts us back in A330 territory, which was never a desirable freighter.

It would seem to me that you'd be in the best position to inform us all about the most suitable freighter variant or P to F model, in terms of cost, availability, multiple ramp fit and cargo handling considerations, as well as the corporate grapevine or word of mouth rumours! Clearly it won't be another P to F jumbo trijet conversion as your firm has owned and largely worn out most of those! ✈️ 🛩 🛬 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 🛫 ✈️ 🛩

There is no need to replace them now . The perfect size jet would be tje 777-200ER but they don’t do that conversion the MD-11 was picked up by fed ex many less than 10 years old with very very low cycles AA and DL dumped them with some frames being 4 years old

2:36 Dude there are DC-3 still flyinhg cargo, although many upgraded with turboprop engines.

anchorage is just a stop over for fuel and rest.or,to switch cargo from one plane to another.Alaska doesn't have a lot of cargo to ship.
