Ingredients:
1) Ragi/Nachni/Finger Millet- 1/2 cup
2) Fresh scrapped coconut- 1/2 medium size
coconut or 1 cup
3) Salt- 1/4 tsp
4) Chopped nuts- 1-2 tbsp
5) Cardamom pods- 4 nos.
6) Jaggery (scrapped/powdered) - 1/4 cup palm jaggery + 1/3 cup sugarcane Jaggery or as per your taste.
1 cup of water (240ml) to grind soaked ragi and extract it's juice
&
1 cup + 3 tbsp + 1/4 cup of water to grind and extract coconut milk
(240ml =16tbsp of water)

In Karnataka we make the same sweet it's called Ragi Haalbai. We add teaspoon of ghee & it tastes more yummier.

It looks like similar to Kannada people's manni. In this you are adding coconut milk like dodol.its dodol in ragi version. Really appreciate it good job.

This is amazingly healthy and delicious desert. However mam, you have discarded the most nutritious fibers of both ragi as well as coconut by straining the juices and throwing the fibers. Ideally this recipe must include all the natural fibers..

It is made exactly the way she showed traditionally since ages. We can add the pulp while kneading our chapati dough. I always do that.

@sunshine, how do you think coconut milk is made 😂 This is exactly how the Goan recipe is since ancient times. You can add all and make, your choice. Don't follow this recipe.

To use ragi powder, first make a stiff dough like you make for chappati. Make a ball and soak it in a bowl of water, cover and keep overnight. Next morning squeeze gently till you get a Milky liquid. Strain and use.
