Aisling | Uncertainty & Equivocation. Lorcán Mac Mathúna and Rónán Ó Raghallaigh discuss

The word "Aisling" conjures both vision and uncertainty, the very essence of equivocation. Vision brings clarity -the truth is revealed beneath the light of day- but the vision of the "Aisling" delves the only thing we cannot know for certain -the future.
On September 5th 2022 sean nós singer Lorcan Mac Mathúna, visual artist Rónán Ó Raghallaigh and filmmaker John Ó Faoláin came together in an exploration of the "Aisling", the “music of visions”. While interpreting the aural landscape of the lyrics of the Aisling a visual response was created in charcoal on canvas. All of this was carried out in the presence of a live audience at The Irish National Heritage Park and captured on film.
Before the live performance the artists engaged in conversations about why they wanted to do this and what they might achieve. They discussed their understanding of the word "Aisling" and what they knew of their own traditions. This conversation was captured on film.
Lorcán, Rónán & John hope this short film piece will provide a tantalising hint for what will be revealed in the performance piece which will be released in the coming weeks.
