Husband-to-Be has BIG OL' Love Glasses on! The prescription is so strong he cannot see how insecure his wife-to-be is. What's worse, he also can't see how badly he is hurting his friend. Someone or something needs to rip off those glasses before he marries a woman who will control every move he makes around all women she perceives as a threat, ever.

As OP said, Matthew needs a backbone. Regardless of how OP looks, or what did or did not happen between her and Matthew, they are best friends, and if Jessica wants to break them up, Matthew should run. I am a guy in my 40s. The three most important women in my life are my wife of 22 years, my daugter, and my best friend of 25 years. It happens to be that for a hot minute when my bestie and I were 19, we were a thing. We realize that we love each other, but we were not suit for each other that way. Sure, for a few years this friendship was a complicated for my wife. But today, I am happy to say that those three most important women in my life do love each other. And even when it was hard at first, my wife never tried to interfere with my friendship.

OP is NTA. Never should you have to beg or plead to attend an event - any event involving anyone you know - no good will come of it. Hope OP enjoys her day with her BF and it is stress free.

Bride being asked to leave the dress shop told me everything I needed to know. Walking red flag! I'd be shocked if the wedding happen. If it does get the fire extinguisher because that marriage will go up in flames. Always great to see Candi, she always has a great perspective. ❤

YEEESSS, Candy! As an introvert, approaching people is not my thing. But when I see something about someone or something someone is wearing that I think is amazing, I HAVE TO TELL THEM. Paying a genuine compliment & walking away is my drug of choice. 💙💙💙 I finally *kinda* learned to take a compliment! I wonder if guy friend’s family talk about OP to the bride? Like we’ve heard those horror stories where keep saying how they want the groom to marry someone else. I also wonder if sister TOLD/Asked bride about inviting OP dress shopping… Like, if it was originally just the 2 of them as a SIL bonding experience and sister surprised the bride by bringing OP?

(Before update) OH HELL NO, NTA! If the bridezilla was this angry just because she was needlessly jealous of her fiancé and that you found a dress you liked (and likely looked very good in) and sent a photo to your bf so he could match, I can't imagine the hell she'd create at the wedding/reception. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near her after that. I'd send my apologies to my friend but would not change my mind. UPDATE: I somehow suspect that OP's friends that dropped out were also "encouraged" to do so. But even if they weren't this should explain to Matthew that his fiancé is not a good person.

I think she chose OP to fixate on instead of her fiancé’s other female friends becuz SHE thinks OP is the prettiest of their group (therefore, the biggest threat). So the dress compliment set her off hard (insecure brides are terrified of being upstaged on their big day). Also, when OP said she had a BF, Bridezilla looked shocked becuz she really does believe OP is actively out to get her man. Good luck to him. He’ll be reassuring her for their whole marriage.

NTA. Jennifer pretended to be a nice person until she got the ring. She obviously has issues. Groom needs to step in now or let the fiancee run his life forever. The only thing is if OP doesn't go then the bride WINS

11:17 so accurate. I used to be very insecure, and then I started pumping up my friends and everybody around me and telling them how awesome they were and, even people at work. I’m extremely confident in myself right now, and I love who I am, but it took time and it took learning that if I could find something beautiful with each of them that there had to be something beautiful with me as well

Why is this guy marrying some one who does this to his friend? The bride is crazy, and i agree with Candy, Jen probably thinks op is hot. I'd be completely stuck on the part where my fiance's behavior toward my best friend, which had been consistently pleasant for years, changed Jekyll and Hyde-style immediately after I put a ring on it. You missed something- other female friends might be friends with the groom but OP is a friend of the whole family. The bride might not be as accepted into the family and OP is basically a bonus relative because of length of knowing each other. In comments did OP specify how long she’s known the groom? Is it from birth? Were they next door neighbors as kids? It’s not just her looks, grooms sister likes OP more than she likes Bride and that’s telling more than just bride jealousy over looks.

That’s a weird thing to jump to. Why are you assuming he did anything at all? Plenty of people are jealous and controlling despite their partner never doing anything wrong and going out of the way to try and appease them. Edit: and I disagree that something like that would “account for the attitude” because that would be an issue between the bride and Matthew, not a reason for her to be rude and scream at OP.
