the Ex-inlaws has some of the stupidest takes on the situation. "You know if the wife was still alive he wouldn't even think about dating you." Well they wouldn't have met anyway unless he was a cheater which they wouldn't want him around anyway like it proves literally nothing.

I can’t tell if this is a grey area… I mean, the dead wives family is the AH. But why did the OP’s fiancé HIDE the engagement from them? The butt holes in this is the LW’s family and the fiancé (not OP).

Not everyone likes unnecessary drama. Nor does one want to hurt people who were traumatized at the sudden unexpected loss of a loved one. Sometimes, it is hard to let go. Sometimes, you are terrified to let someone go. Sometimes, people do not know that are ready to let go unto they realize suddenly they are.

I was so ready to call OP the AH. Then it got to the calls, vandalism and harassment. Yeah, OP is NTA. Glad the fiancé decided to cut them off. Because if he didn’t, and OP left him, they’d still never have left him or any future SO alone. No person should be forced into dealing with that kind of venom and toxicity. Yes, the fiancé was a slight AH for not telling the former in-laws about his engagement sooner. But given his reaction to the vandalism, harassment and verbal vitriol of the girls, and that he immediately knew he was cutting contact with them all, I think that small error in judgment is forgivable. I wish OP and her fiancé the best in the future.

Too bad his late wife’s family doesn’t love him like he loves them. If they did, they would want him to be happy and to move on with his life. They are completely selfish people, and he is a whimp to allow them to control him.

Let me be very honest with you this relationship is not about you and him in between you their is his late wife. I agree it takes time to forget someone but are you willing to adjust that like your husband is celebrating birthday of his ex wife and what happen if you will have children in the future. Looks like before marrying you he needs to heal himself and remember you are not his medicine. Every men in this world love only one women sadly in your case it's still his late wife not you and because of this you might never be able yo get that special place in his heart because it's already occupied. Girl their are a lot of men in this world don't adjust for sum crap if he really loves you and wants you then first he needs to heal himself get his shit together and most importantly forgot who is not alive and empty that place so that you can take it in his heart otherwise you are nothing less than a replacement.

I know i would accept any of this crap. I refuse to be with someone that lost their partner to death, you have to accept so much bullshit and if you express any sort of discomfort you are a toxic evil person 😂😂😂 screw this, just stay single or find someone thar also lost their partner and you both keep swallow each other bullshit.
