Most yachts miss it out because it's too shallow and the harbour/anchorage are very small.

Yea we were told that before we went but didn’t seem to have to many issues. I guess having a cat with a shallow draught helped. For us it was well worth the stop and we would have been gutted to miss it. Thanks for the comment! 👍🏽

@@anotherwayoflifenz It has been excavated/dredged a bit in the last couple of years, but it's still a bit limited. What was the minimum depth you saw?

I think probably the shallowest we saw were 2.5 metres. It seems like they have almost finished dredging the harbour for the local boats and are now working on a new harbour just for cruisers which will be awesome !

@@anotherwayoflifenz I have sailed past Aitutaki five times on various trips across the Pacific, the first in 1989 and the most recent in June. Maybe I will finally get to stop one day. My current boat draws 1.9m

Awesome ! Sounds like you’ve covered some miles. Yea I would recommend for sure! They may have the new marina for ya ! Just keep ya satellite on and you should have no worries.
