Belt width: if too narrow can perpetually deviate slightly about their centre (or mean) position on the flywheel and pulley combo. I have TEAC A-109 which does just this, and the W/F is around 0.10/0.11% wrms, instead of around 0.08%. I've yet to fix that one permanently. :o)

Wolf, how did you find the correct height of the reel spindle when gluing it back in? Because I don't think it should just be pressed all the way down. If so, it will be too low. What you say at 58:45 about the felt pad and the serated portion of the reel table is very related to what I just mentioned. The felt pad probably hasn't moved by itself, but the spindle + reel may sit lower than intended.

I didn't, and as a result it indeed almost was too low. Got lucky with that one. Next one of these units I work on, I'll be measuring before pulling the shaft out to epoxy it.

Wow/Flutter between 0.07x and 0.10x aint too bad. We'll never heard it. Can't recall - did you put 'new' pinch rollers in? You know, if the coefficient of friction along the line of contact between capstan and pinch is substantially different, then may be one side of the tape is micro-moving back & forth more than the other? This is a scenario where micro deviations will 'play out' on the W/F meter. So far I'm up to 1:13:00 of this ....

This one didn't get new pinch rollers, and I didn't have the tools at the time to remove them to service the roller shafts.
